One million Kinect sensors sold
Apparently there are more people than we thought who were tired of controllers. Microsoft’s Kinect sensor sold 1 million units in a short 10-day span. It looks like it was a billion dollars worth spending as people are obviously eating up some Kinect.
“We are appreciative of the response we have seen from consumers that has culminated in sales of more than 1 million units in the first 10 days on the market for Kinect for Xbox 360,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “This is a great start to the holiday season, and we will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver against our plan to sell more than 5 million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year.”
This sounds great but when you look at it closely you’ll realize it’s not that impressive. There are close to 50 million Xbox 360 owners out there. So roughly about 1 percent of all Xbox 360 owners invested in Kinect. They have their eyes set on 5 million sensors during the holidays.
Do you think they’ll make it?

@Pilex, no kidding. Its on Opera, Ellen, BurgerKing, during Monday Night Football and just about everywhere else. They are pushing the heck out of it which should increase sales, but will the cost of marketing offset the eventual profits? That’s the question.

Probably wait awhile before I get this.

Well usually the hardware takes a loss and the shovelware bolsters all the future of the hardware. Profit margins on the quickly produced kinect launch titles should be no exception.

So do you think that MS will make the projected 5 Million? Looking promising considering they are now at 2.5 Million sold already. After Black Friday all the storage around me are out of Kinect. MS better get some back on the Shelves or they will have a hard time meeting the 5 Million they predicted.
