D-Pads sprinkled with Evil
How evil are you when playing? If you’re semi-evil or quasi-evil, then here’s something just for you. The folks behind the Evil brand of controllers have done something to the D-Pad that they hope will enhance the way you play. I present to you the Evil D-Pad ladies and gentlemen.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday right? I’m not sure how I feel about the D-Pad being modified with buttons but hey here it is.
The new controller will optimize consistency with four separated directional buttons. A player can hit one button for a single direction, and two for a diagonal input. This makes it easier to accurately go the correct direction, contrary to the original controller or even an update that merely raises the D-pad. Point to point contact will drastically improve game play in titles such as Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Modern Warfare 2, any and all shooters on the 360, and especially fighting games.
Well that’s what they say at least.

Here’s more info from the press release:
The Evil D-Pad removes all of the random elements from the player’s game while increasing functionality across the board. The Evil D-Pad is incredible for first and third-Person shooters, allowing basic maneuvers to be pulled off flawlessly every time. In fighting games the Evil D-Pad’s design works as it should, diagonals are activated by pressing two directional buttons at the same time, and thanks to absence of the axis design, player’s precise inputs will be rewarded with accurate outcomes every time. While the Evil Ambassadors (our interns) can’t agree on everything, there is one thing they all believe unanimously, “Shoryukens have never been easier.”
The cost of the controller is a bit much coming in at $55 for a wired one and $75 for a wireless one. What say you?

$75 bones for wireless. What the hell are they smoking? Sorry but I am passing on that.
Who in the right mind buys wired anymore?

i would buy wired.
i’m fed up with having wireless controllers.
never needed it anyway. never had problems with a wire.
but this continous demand for batteries… every time when i play tekken it just disconnects, and i’m in danger of losing a round. if i dont switch batteries really really fast.
second reason : wireless controller can be used on my pc without having to buy an extra wireless receiver.

Good points lawlhalla. Just a suggestion but get rechargeable batteries not the Microsoft ones. I rotate and recharge them every couple days go keep the juice full. Check the charge status before loading up your game to play. Just saying that it works for me.

Remind me again what the D-Pad is used for in FPS games? Because I’ve only played Halo, and it’s used for about 2 basic functions not even essential for playing campaign or multiplayer. I think anyone who buys something like that, just to make a couple of game genres ‘easier’ is a bit silly. But that’s just my opinion lol

I agree 100% with my brethren LAW! The MAD DOG™ is right! I always hate having to prepare for batteries possibly dying on me, and having a recharged set handy. Wired=POWER!

NoHands, quit school, open a mod shop, we’ll buy all your goods.

like the domed sticks, but is that d-pad functionality better than a ps3 d pad, i know the og xbox dpad is farked, but not sure that is the solution, what about corner angles? As far as lawl and bpd, multiple rechargeables..duh cmon
