Medal of Honor Review

The sound in the game (both from the environments and chatter) was pretty damn cool. There was one particular mission in the campaign that had you piloting an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and dropping hell on some targets. Just listening to them on the radio and how they called in the strikes was pretty intense. I won’t even mention the M82 objectives. I’ll just say that I let out quite a few “holy shit” responses when playing through them. I’m going White Hot baby!
There was a lot of detail in the game. The ATV mission was a thrill ride. The way that I had to continue looking for cover after an RPG tore through a wall was crazy. I did notice some strange things here in there like one of my team members being stuck in a wall but overall it was a job well done.
Xbox LIVE Extras
If the campaign isn’t hectic enough for you, you can try out the Tier 1 Mode. It’ll definitely get your competitive juices flowing. The goal in Tier 1 Mode is to get the most skill kills and the best time. You’re thrust into the most challenging conditions to do it. It’s like bragging rights trying to claim who is the biggest bad ass amongst you and your friends.
One of the strange things about Medal of Honor was that the multiplayer portion was developed by DICE and not Danger Close. I can’t understand why when the single campaign is so gripping. I guess it came down to time. With that said, I still enjoyed the multiplayer part of Medal of Honor and I’m sure quite a few people will. What’s not to love about Frostbite right?
There are four multiplayer options to choose from (Combat Mission, Team Assault, Objective Raid, Sector Control) and you can play on eight different maps. Each one naturally has its own unique gameplay element. You can customize your weapons as well as your character. I’m sure the most attention will be given to customizing the weapons in the game. If that’s the case, then you’ll want to pay attention to gaining score, ribbons and medals.
Leveling up means that you unlock new weapons and extras. You can become the ultimate Tier 1 Operator with the perfect weapon. You can also assign or choose different Support Actions in each round. Choose carefully. I was a big fan of the Mortar Strike and UAV combo. I’m glad that you could still use the SA when you died and had not yet used it.
I’m not sure what to say beyond DICE did was DICE does. If you’re a fan of Bad Company’s MP, then you’ll likely find a home with Medal of Honor’s MP.
Conclusion
Medal of Honor is back in a big way! Forget about all the controversy surrounding the Taliban. This game does nothing to offend anyone fighting in today’s war. Danger Close came dangerously close to giving you an incredibly real experience behind the eyes and weapons of some of our heroes. If that’s what these guys are capable of then I fear for the “Opposing Forces” out there.
I’ve been wanting a game with a campaign that was not just a spinoff of its multiplayer. Medal of Honor managed to give me an experience worth repeating. I hope all of the controversy surrounding the Taliban doesn’t deter any military person (active or otherwise) from playing this game because Danger Close paid a respectful tribute to those people with its campaign.

well I have no idea what all these low score reviews are about!!! I’ve played the game through twice on medium and hard difficulty. not much difference there I have to say but the on thing I did notice, there are some missions where the frame rate drops and this happened in both my play throughs. on both occasions the missions were different but very much apparent. on the other hand this isn’t something that can’t be fixed with a patch. the textures do struggle to load at times. again this happened on both play throughs.
overall I enjoyed the game. the missions as tier 1 were especially thrilling. there was one mission when playing as Adams from the Rangers, and you and your four-man squad are heavily pinned by Al-Qaeda. I won’t spoil it but suffice to say that was as close to being in the moment as I believe it’s possible to being in a video game especially on the first play through.
with regards to these bogus reviews, namely the IGN one, I think someone once said it’s not possible to spell IGNorant without them. nuff said.
