New Borderlands DLC outsourced, not developed by Gearbox
I know a lot of you (including me) were seriously looking forward to the new Borderlands DLC but that may change upon learning that it wasn’t even developed by Gearbox Software. The New Robot Revolution DLC was in fact developed by Darkside Game Studios and it was their first full production title released on consoles.
Yep development on the new content was outsourced. Why did you do this Gearbox? Don’t you know that we heart Borderlands and we heart your clever ways of making awesome content to extend the life of it? I can’t imagine a new studio could capture that same level of character that Gearbox had so perfectly managed to do.

There’s already reviews out that claim this new content is definitely not as good as the others. Some claim it has lost the appeal and character that Borderlands fans are accustomed to.
Thanks for the news x352x pH.

I am only about an hour in so I can’t say much about it as a whole but I will mention that the one liners I am hearing from the claptraps have retained the humor we have come to expect from this game.

I played 2 or 3 missions in and I have noticed a few voice acting changes it seems, Marcus in particular.. his voice just seems off, idk. I’m not far enough in to get the big picture on any gameplay issues but i have read HORRENDOUS threads about how almost ALL of the collectible achievements are glitched so I’m not looking forward to that =/

Yeah, thank god they stuck with the 800msp price point. That has always worked for BL. This DLC is also another whopping 1GB+ file

Yeah, I’ve been debating whether or not to hold off on playing the DLC until the level increase patch is released so that I can play through it and actually be gaining levels, lol.

Outsourced for real. Hmm. I am going to wait for feedback before picking this up now.

Randy Pitchford said in an interview with Major Nelson, that Mikey Neuman pretty much wrote all of the content inside of the new DLC. http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/09/28/show-372-gearbox-s-randy-pitchford-talks-about-the-new-borderlands-game-add-on-and-duke-nukem-forever.aspx
So I’m thinking, if anything was outsourced, it may have been the modeling of the game world and possibly the character models. The only possible difference I have made out so far, is Patricia Tannis. Her character model looks a tiny bit improved.
I have unlocked the 3D glasses achievement, but the three secret achievements should have unlocked for me. For spoiler reasons, I won’t mention what they are, but I fulfilled the necessary requirements for them to unlock. As far as the other collector achievements, I haven’t received enough of them for others to unlock.
