Kinect mounting accessories coming soon
I suppose it was only a matter of time right? Performance Designed Products are now the official mounting accessory kings and queens for Kinect. In November they’ll be the only company providing these kinds of accessories for Kinect. Here is a list of those accessories and how much they’ll be retailing for.
No, I’m not sure how expansive any accessories will be or if they’ll include fancy little light sabers or heavy plastic machine guns at some point. Why would they though when Kinect is being touted as “controller free”? At any rate, here’s what you can expect this November on the accessory front.
Wall Mount for Kinect, SRP: $14.99 - The Wall Mount provides a quick and easy solution for mounting your valuable Kinect for Xbox 360 to the wall
TV Mount for Kinect, SRP: $39.99 – The TV Mount uses the VESA spec standard as a one-and-all solution for mounting Kinect for Xbox 360 to any size TV (from 26” to 60”)
Cable Extension for Kinect, SRP: $49.99 - The Cable Extension for Kinect will allow you to extend your connection by over 9 feet, allowing you to place Kinect for Xbox 360 virtually anywhere in your living space
Floor Stand for Kinect, SRP: $29.99 – With a large tripod base and secure locking mechanism, the Floor Stand is designed to allow the Kinect Sensor to be elevated above the floor to help protect the Kinect for Xbox 360 from foot traffic and dirt

I thought Wii accessories were bad! $50 for an extension cable!? Isn’t it just a USB cable??

Mad Catz has also said they will be releasing Kinect accessories. While I feel PDP and MC are just trying to cash in on Kinect, I can see where some of these would be quite handy. For instance if your TV is mounted, any of these 3 will almost be required. I’ll take a gander at these over at Best Buy when they release and decide from there.

No, it’s not just a USB cable. The Kinect port is a proprietary port created by MS.

well the wall mount would be cool wouldn’t it? or would that get in the way of adjusting Kinect?

I don’t think it would. It seems that once Kinect has been calibrated, it doesn’t need to be again unless you move a ton of furniture around. I’d also assume the wall mount doesn’t interfere with the tilting mechanism.

It does. Depending on my final “mancave” layout, I may end up getting that. I’m still trying to figure out where my furniture needs to be and such to allow for Kinect to recognize me. Is it sad that I’m remodeling my room just for Kinect?

yeah i think you can classify that as pretty sad lol. you need to be at least 6 feet from Kinect (that’s the recommended distance)

Yep, that’s what I’ve heard. As of now, I’ve got about 7.3ft from me to my TV. I’m hoping that will suffice.

Did they make any thing for the beating your wallet is gonna take? like some kinect brand padded seat cushions to ease the pain after they extract every possible dollar from your ass?

@ Pilex Not that I’ve seen. I’ve got 2 Kinect titles preordered and will preorder the system once my local Best Buy allows me. The day of Nov 4th, my wallet is going to be pissed. One thing I am glad to see is games priced at 49.99 instead of 59.99.

I curious how Kinect looks mounted on the wall. My daughter and neice were playing and they saw a promo for Dance Central on XBOX Live and they were really excited about it! Honestly, the more I see of Kincect the more interested I’m becoming. But I will hold off on getting on though. Got another mouth to feed pretty soon.
