Limbo no longer in Limbo
One of this years pleasant surprises from PAX East, promises to entertain you while showing you a new visual element. Limbo has not only caused a buzz, but has seemingly influenced many developers to use “Noir” features in their games. I believe the saying is something like mimicry is one of the highest forms of flattery.
What started as a solo project for creator Arnt Jensen, became a reality yesterday after a quest that spanned 6 years. With the honor being the first Summer of Arcade offering it is unlike any game you’ve ever played before. Both intense and immersive, Limbo will captivate gamers young and old. A unique blend of American Film Noir and German Expressionism creates the backdrop and the platforming puzzle based gameplay will cause you to become consumed with this young boy’s quest through “Limbo” as he searches for answers about his sister’s fate..
With games like Mickey Mouse and Donkey Kong adding black and white sections, you can bet Copenhagen based Playdead games doesn’t feel caught in game purgatory anymore. Irish and I had the opportunity to sit down with Producer Mads Wibroe during PAX East and found out just how much this game meant to Playdead games. Mads stressed how they are composed of “gamers for gaming” and the struggles they had to keep Limbo a completely independently developed IP.
With several solid hours of gameplay and a 1200 ms point pricetag, I don’t believe you will be disappointed. As for myself, passing on this game isn’t an option. I believe devs like Playdead games are the ones who deserve your support. So show some love and pony up for a great game and good bunch of gamers…GET THIS GAME!!!

Everyone and their mother knows how impressed I was with LIMBO at PAX.
MADS WIBROE the producer talked with me about it, for about an hour, as we watched some guy play. I was impressed with everything about the game.
While I wish the game was selling for 800 I am 100% for INDIE DEVELOPERS.
Anyways, bought it and played it last night. It was a good game. I believe the ending is somewhat open to interpretation, but it was good. I want to go back and play again to see if I can get the other achievements.
