Kinect price $149.99, Kinect games $49.99
Well after all the speculation, Microsoft today announced what it had so vehemently denied over the last few weeks….Kinect really is going to retail for $149.99 as just about everyone on this side of the mountain knew already. But the one thing we didn’t know was that it was going to be packaged with Kinect Adventures. Yay? I’ll never understand why they would deny what everyone knew already. I guess they had to discuss adding value to it with Kinect Adventures.

“We don’t really make pricing decisions without doing a lot of research. We talked with thousands of consumers across a whole variety of audience segments, on a global scale,” said Aaron Greenberg, Director of Product Management for Xbox 360.
“What we heard was that when people look at what they get with the Kinect sensor — all the experiences it enables across entertainment, movies, music, using your voice to access your entertainment, your gestures navigating the dash, etc. plus all of the games coming to market — our research shows that at $149 consumers feel like it’s a great value for existing owners. And then for new buyers, the $299 bundle is extremely compelling.”
“We’re currently a full $100 less than the PS Move bundle which is $400, which is a single player experience. Obviously if you add a second player to that they get well over $500 pretty quickly.”
You have to do better with these things PR people. I suppose you have to explain it any way you can eh? Microsoft also announced a new Kinect bundle that will include a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim and Kinect for $299. This new 4GB console will include built in Wifi and the 4GB internal memory but will not have the same shiny finish as the 250GB Slim. It will be a black matte finish.
Kinect games, including “Kinectimals,” ‘Kinect Sports,” “Kinect Joy Ride” and MTV Games’ and Harmonix’s “Dance Central” will retail for $49.99 (U.S. ERP).

I’m glad they’re making money with the slim. Because they are about to lose a hell of a lot, when nobody goes out to buy Kinect at that extortionate price.

The $300 bundle will sell a ton, great deal. Kinect at $150? A bit much, how about take the game out and let me buy it for $100?

I was kinda wishing for a 250gig kinect bundle for $399.99 since I’m already in the market for a slim, for an extra $100 I wouldn’t mind trying out Kinect. I also kinda wish they would have just made all 360 slims matte but whatever no biggy.
The $150 price point is $50 to much for my pockets…. I wish them the best with this launch…. $50 per game also seems nuts for what I’ve seen so far, maybe games in the future will be worth that but not the upcoming games…. People out there have money to blow so the price is nothing to them. I’m sure it’ll do good, I can’t see it being a TOTAL flop.
If I had an extra $150 and I was stable I would probably buy this just to give it a try, with the current economy situation I doubt many people do though. If no one pre-ordered this thing it would have been at least $119.99 but they saw people bit so they left the price alone.
To sum it all up: Boo Price! Good luck Microsoft! I may or may not hop on your boat.

This is what i was expecting, the only complaint i have is: why not Kinect Sports? i think that would be a much better game to bundle with it. the new “arcade” 360 is pretty epic as well for casual users. same price and you get a lot more.

holy shit … you mean Kinectimals will only be fifty bones not sixty? color me ecstatic …

Nice to offer a game, and it’s great for the family

As expected $150. Hmmm to get or not to get, that is the question.

I’ll get it, just not immediately. I’m liking the $50 pricepoint.

Considering they threw in a game with Kinect, the $150.00 price isn’t too bad. I would’ve liked to see the fitness game added on but it’s cool. I won’t be buying this first day. I just think there are going to be problems with the 1st batch of Kinects such as not being as responsive to motion or voice command. But when the tour hits Dallas I will definitely check it out.

$150 is too much for this. Not to mention rubbish Kinect Adventures that no one will really enjoy much.
If they want to get into Nintendo’s family market, they have to do much better than this, seriously.
