Xbox 360 Slim unboxing and transfer to 250GB hard drive
To my surprise when I got home yesterday, I had this funny thing waiting for me that looked kind of like a new Xbox 360 S console! I decided to do a quick video to show the data transfer* process and also to show off the Xbox 360 S compared to a regular Elite console.
I hope you enjoy the video! *Kingdom of Keflings and Hexic HD are preinstalled on the hard drive.

I do want to clear up one thing for people who have emailed me asking. “Kinect Ready” on the Xbox 360 S does not mean that it comes with Kinect. What it means is that it is built to support Kinect without the need for any additional power source. For those of you with current Xbox 360 consoles, when you purchase Kinect it will include an extra power source for you to use. Xbox 360 S owners will not need that. They can simply “connect” Kinect to their console and get their motion on.
[Update] – If your transfer cable isn’t prompting you for the transfer and it recognizes your old hard drive as a USB attachment, then unfortunately you’ll need a new or different transfer cable.

does the transfer include xbox live membership?

your Xbox Live membership has nothing to do with the transfer. your membership will go unchanged and remain the same as it was after transferring.

So I guess since my first cable didn’t work out, I have to try a new one… But isn’t there something about a disk?

Does this cable work both ways? As in, can I plug up the transfer cable to the hard drive and the Xbox 360 S, and it would recognize it as a hard-drive? Or is it just “Okay, there are your files, this cord is useless now!”?
