Call of Duty: Black Ops thoughts?
By now you should’ve seen the latest trailer for Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. You should’ve also seen the plans for the Call of Duty franchise from Activision Blizzard that includes several additional Call of Duty “spinoffs” from different developers. I have two questions for you today. The first of course is what do you think of the next installment, Black Ops? It’s a modern spin on yet again some old conflict so are you excited about what is essentially a reskinned old war game?

My second question is how many of you are looking forward to Bungie’s work on the Call of Duty franchise? Don’t act surprised! Okay that wasn’t a serious question but stranger things have happened and I fully expect Bungie to spit out some sort of Halo take on Call of Duty. So my real second question is are you tired of this franchise yet?
What say you?

To answer your first question, I’m not too excited about Black Ops but I am curious about how this stands out from the rest of the games in the library. There’s only so many war stories to tell before it starts repeating itself. Same game, different war.
And on the second question, I’m not tired of the franchise but my only hope is that the franchise do something different as far as gameplay. I would like to see what Call of Duty would do with a 24/Mission Impossible type scenario that would take it to another level.

I don’t really get excited about anything from Treyarch and I am really not sure if I will get excited on anything from Infinity Ward in the future anymore. I love war games and FPS’s but they are getting kind of old. They really need to bring some new and exciting concepts as the games are just starting to blur together for me.

I agree with Sugar. Plus I hate Activision now.

yeah these war games are all just that…war games.

As long as Treyarch puts in a good zombie game mode like in WaW, I’ll be happy. That was my favorite part of the game. I’m looking forward to what Respawn Entertainment creates next.
I just haven’t been hooked on any call of duty since 4 and before that, 2.

COD4 and COD2 where the best of the series in my opinion. Everything in between and since has just been average at best.

It looks cool, but so did World at War. I’m not a real fan of Treyarch and I’m a bit done with CoD games for now.

Call of Duty is done, Treyarch never was anyway. Looking forward to see what all the defectors can bring to light with EA behind them. I sold everything COD. I will RENT at best upcoming games for single player only.

Modern Warfare 2 sucked, so did World at War. This spinoff is probably going to continue even more just for money’s sake. The people who play it now are just noobs who aren’t good at anything, but with the new Black Ops, it seems as if Treyarch is stealing ideas from MW2, which can’t mean good. “History is only written by the victor”, was said by Price in MW2, and in Black Ops, it was said that “Just because people call it history, it doesn’t make it true”. That is just laziness on Treyarch’s part, and who wants to buy a half-assed spinoff anyway?
As for Halo, Bungie continues to resurrect a game they said was done. Halo 3 was meant to be last, but then came Halo Wars. After saying Halo Wars was the end, Halo 3: ODST arrived. After saying THAT was the last, Halo: Reach is announced. When WILL this end?

Black ops looks like what mw2 should have been. but the crowd is now fed up with cod games cause the mess infinity ward made. The main problem is that the COD franchise was good back in the day, and was pretty much just a normal shoot shoot kill game. When COD 4 came out, everyone was excited because it was COD and had something fresh and new. It quickly became everyones best friend. When world at war came out, it featured pretty much the same game, but with a very few new things. Same game, new graphics, overused time period. But when MW2 was being made, some of the things AMAZED people! It was like WOW i can’t believe they put that in. Unfortunately COD was supposed to be a simple game, not a camp in a corner with cheap weapons which were suppost to be “cool,” until people saw it being used on them.
End of story, black ops might be what mw2 should have been. Not a Cod game, but a new game that is just now fixed and patched up. A new game, but happens to be called call of duty.

I’d like to see cod take place in the future so they can be creative with weapons and stuff. I agree though black ops looks like MW2 should have been.

well, I look at black ops and I think to myself: after ooh say about an hour playing multiplayer, I’ll have had enough. I made the big mistake of keeping mw2 beyond it’s use-by date of 11.11.09. I should have traded it in as soon as I finished the single player campaign, which wasn’t half bad just not mw1. I hope treyarch will support their game and not let someone like the community punching bag that is robert bowling, aka stealth clown, be their main representative. I honestly hope there are no overpowered and ridiculous kill streak rewards. it looks like there aren’t any but that remote piloted, shoulder fired mini pred missile thing already looks like being a pain in the ass. not to mention the rc c4 package thing (after 3 goddamn kills!!!!!)
another thing I’ve always been a fan of is sniping. it takes major skill and composure to be an average sniper. just imagine how much ability is required to be a great sniper. I’ve always felt like snipers are the elite of the elite. now why on earth are sniper rifles so easy to use in fps’? I just hope that black ops will reward you as a player for being better than your opponent. that’s what a good game should do. the better player wins and luck has little to do with anything.
I felt like a god playing cod4. considering how shit I was to begin with (k/d ratio of 0.6 for like 3 months straight) I got so much better at the game and that was purely from acquired knowledge of how to play the game and overall better ability. I really don’t want to go into what’s already been said about the state of mw2 and its bullshitness. just hoping for a better experience by the end of November.

Blackops is purely going embarrass MW2 because Treyarch is miles ahead of Infinity Ward. They actually listen to people, IW just puts in stupid stuff like stopping power and the UMP. Screw IW, Blackops should be very good.

It is HUNDRED times worse than Modern Warfare 2. Although tubers and campers really piss me off but the 2 Treyarch games really disapointed me as it is forever laggy. Treyarch sucks. If you people notice more people did go back to Mw2 and said Blackops sucks

Personally I think BLOPS is 100% better then MW2. I quit playing MW2 cause of all the glitches in the game. There were way to many that at times made it unplayable. BLOPS is actually the first Treyarch game that I have really enjoyed. Also, with the recent xbox update, the majority of people that went back to MW2 were glitchers and modders and the patch took care of them.
