Gears of War 3, Female COGs introduced, April 5 2011 release
It wasn’t a surprise last night when Cliffy B introduced the world to Gears of War 3. But it was a surprise to see that one of the things that I thought would be cool made its way into the game. Female COG soldiers! COG TOWN baby! The game will be released on April 5, 2011 and will apparently mark the end of the Gears of War franchise. (we’ll see about that)

You know, Deacon? The first time I saw the trailer I thought for a moment that Epic was paying the favor back for Marcus & Dom’s appearance on Lost Planet, cause she does look too japanese-style for my GOW taste…

I’m kind of over GOW. The second installment didn’t do much for me. I keep telling myself that I’m going to start renting games that I’m not completely excited about. Maybe I’ll start with GOW 3.

For the record, I’m surprised you guys don’t recognise who she is.
She’s Anya Stroud, now on the front lines. The novel Anvil’s Gate, written by Karen Traviss, will explain her transition from Intel/Logistics Officer for Delta Squad to being on the front lines with them as well.
Also note a few other things in this trailer:
1. The ash and near statues of the people who were essentially glassed alive as as result of the Lambent Brumak exploding.
2. Baird and Marcus have basically modfied COG armour or rather, removed the sleeeves and some of the undergarments from the standard COG armour, given how they have bare arms.
3. Anya is now a new member of the squad.
4. There’s tentacled monster dude and other things the Locust are shooting at while firing at them, presumably Lambent leftovers.
5. Dom now has a beard, since it’s about a year after the events at the end of Gears 2
6. Dom also is given a Pendulum Wars-era Lancer – that is, the original assault rifle with the bayonet attached to it, no chainsaw one.
7. Marcus has a double barreled shotgun.
They have a year to iron this out and get it ready, hopefully the game, and the new engine, will look solid.
This also gives me time to complete the remaining 7 achievements I have for Gears 2, and 20 achievements I have for Gears 1 left.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned yet but Cliffy B. in a interview said that is Anya I must say she has grown since the last games
