Xbox 360 Slim, interested?
I don’t think we’ve ever stepped down this road and discussed the positives and negatives of this possibility. There are rumors running around (as there always are) that Microsoft is planning to introduce its own slim version of the Xbox 360. If memory serves me correctly, I recall rumors about the original Xbox having a slim version were around during its life cycle as well. Nothing ever came of it though.

From a design standpoint, I don’t even see how it would be possible especially with that huge hard drive on top of it currently. I suppose they could do an internal hard drive but then that leads you down the road of “why even bother”. I personally question the move but I’m not foolish enough to believe that millions of people won’t eat this up because they will. But will you? Some have gone so far as to say that it’s only natural to see Natal bundled with this new Xbox 360 Slim version. If this thing does happen, I’d like to see a few changes to it.
- get rid of the wireless adapter, make it internal
- get rid of the memory unit (obviously with USB storage on the way it’s possible)
- slot loading drive (hey it would make it easier if you’re slimming it down)
What features (or lack thereof) would you like to see if Microsoft went ahead with a slim redesign?

If they go ahead and make the internal hdd a 250GB, I don’t see the problem. Even offering a 120GB sku would be fine for most people. As it stands now, for most people upgrading their HDD is an expensive proposition and not likely anyway. Not much changes once it’s internal. And given that USB storage support is being added, there’s your removable storage solution.
And a slot loader would be pretty nice.

A relaunch of the 360 system points to a redesigned system with Natal. Seems logical right? However, if Microsoft does not go through with making a quality 360 redesign… I feel they would be missing out on a big opportunity to sell many millions more to people, while they reduce their manufacturing costs.
Microsoft needs to scrap the Proprietary Hard Drive… Make it internal, & upgradable like Sony did with their Ps3.
The looks of the system need to be more sophisticated for the LIVING ROOM (Set-Top-Box) – So design it to look something like Apple’s MAC mini. However, use a nice semi-gloss BLACK this time Microsoft.
Slot Drive & Internal Wi-Fi should be there.

i don’t think they’ll do it…not in the sense of “Slim” that is…will they redesign it? probably..will they slim it? doubtful.

I don’t see it happening anytime soon but who am i in the scheme of things? My first thought was similar to Mike’s the internal Wi-Fi. And everyone knows the hard drive would be at the top of the list of needed improvements. The way I see it whatever they do, if they do anything along the slimming lines, they need to do it properly- RROD sux butt juice!

all these ideas would be cool but on the other hand i’d be kinda pissed since i dropped $100 on the wireless-n adapter lol =[

I want one that looks like the “leg lamp” from the movie “A Christmas Story”

I could see this happening with the introduction of Natal. Mocrosoft has been really quiet lately and Sony has stepped their game up (no pun intended). An internal hard drive would be nice as long as the RROD are finally fixed like DangerDoll said. It would sux to send your whole system in for repair and have all of your game saves “accidently” erased.

I have no desire to purchase a “slim” model. I can’t think of anything that would want me to get one.
Space is no issue to me. I use a WIRED network connection so the wireless doesn’t concern me. With the new USB support that came out today, hard drive space is no issue – plus I recently got the 250g hdd. Lastly, I have no interest in Natal, so if this new slim model has Natal built in, it still won’t interest me.
I guess for anyone sitting back on an old 360 or someone who hasn’t even entered this generation, the slim model with Natal support would be a nice buy.

The only thing I would look for on a redesigned console is that they tell us its 100% error proof, that is, no more red lights. If they comply, then whatever design they come with is acceptable.
Agree with the internal wi-fi & the slot drive.

It’s kind of funny to read little old articles you know..hehe. People review what might be and now totally different come out.
