Splinter Cell: Conviction doesn’t disappoint
As Deacon mentioned earlier in the week the Splinter Cell Conviction demo went live yesterday and initial impressions are total win.
Some speculation naturally accompanies a title this long in the making and the game seems to pass with flying colors. The graphics are clean and sharp, the gameplay is smooth, and you can shoot while you move. It’s Resident Evil the right way so go ahead Ubisoft.
Don’t believe me? You can take a look for yourself at an HD video I made of gameplay footage…Splinter Cell Conviction

Make no mistake Sam Fisher is a badass and he is out for blood. It’s been 2 years since the events of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Fisher is rogue and The Third Echelon better hope they weren’t responsible for the death of his daughter.
The gameplay introduces some new features to look for including “Mark and Execute” and the “Last Known Position” both of which are not only useful but stand out as being great additions to an already polished series.
The full title will include a brand new cooperative campaign and will take place on four unique maps. Conviction will also feature a new multiplayer mode entitled Deniable Ops. This mode will take place on the four multiplayer maps on the cooperative campaign, as well as two other maps exclusive to Deniable Ops.
This has U360 midnight release party written all over it. Who is in?

I liked the demo, but didn’t love it.
It doesn’t really feel like a stealth game much. Also the demo was way too short. I’m sure the full will turn out well though.

Wow- VERY different gameplay to traditional Splinter Cell and odd control scheme, but I can see this being really fun. Only tried the demo for Batman: AA for about 10 minutes at Gamestop, but this seems to pick up a bit from that (and considering B:AA won big at the BAFTAs, I’d say that’s not a bad thing). It’s looking like there might be ‘Sam Fisher levels’ and then ‘Splinter Cell Actives levels’ mixed in there- so maybe we’ll see more similar and ‘stealth’ gameplay in those missions? Or maybe not… I’m just missing the freedom of movement- no jump button? Only one real ‘action’ button? I guess we’ll see when it come out, but I was impressed enough that this would definitely be on my ‘to-buy’ list if it’s well-received when it comes out.
