Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta Trailer and Box Art
All your jetpacks are belong to Halo? I know many of you are anticipating the Halo Reach beta arriving soon but did you ever in your wildest dreams expect to see a Spartan make like a jet and fly? That’s right, Joystiq has given wind of jetpacks coming to Halo when the Reach beta arrives. Along with jetpacks, the video below highlights some pretty intense action…assassinations anyone?
I think Halo fans will be pleased with what they see while skeptics like myself who remain on the border of interest will remain skeptics. That means it’s not much for me to get excited about until I play it. What say you?

is the new stuff in text..i mean along with the jetpacks. I see nothing really to sway me towards being excited about the same thing i have played over and over. I think the problem lies in differences between made up places/space settings blurring into the familiar and games like COD basing their maps on real locations allowing for perceived change even when there isn’t much..

lol Pilex must be confused… It looks far better/different than any HALO ever. It also moves faster, includes Melee/finishing moves, has far more enemies on screen fighting, & Jet-packs for the FTMFW!!!

No offence but hearing people say “It’s the same thing i have played over and over” is silly. Yes of course it looks and feels the same. It’s the same series of games.
It’s the same with the FIFA series, CoD series, Assassin’s Creed 1 & 2, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, Forza and people don’t seem to complain as much about them being the same thing over and over.
I really enjoy playing Halo and I cannot wait for the Reach BETA this May. The only problem I can see with the BETA is playing Reach multiplayer and then having to go back to Halo 3 for another 6 months, haha

Meh and my point was with regards to maps/ game environments..one can only see so many rocky planetary canyons in a warthog. Oh and mike when you strap that jetpack on, float into the sky, look down to find a target, then plummet to your death at the hands of a sniper preying on jetpack junkies your opinion may change.

sorry for asking longboy. but seriously, isn’t halo reach different then halo 1-2-3 ? jetpacks isn’t going to cut it.
and whatever point you make. fifa is bound by soccer, you can’t compare that to a fps game they are not bound by rules that you should always play on a field this large with this many players on it, and 1 ball.
cod has been to WW2 to modern warfare. BF has added vietnam and 2142 to that. assassins creed went from ancient jerusalem to venice. THATS CHANGE. i dont see any of that change here.

I didn’t care much for Halo 3, I skipped ODST but I’ll give this a try. Yes it looks like more of the same but at least they’re trying now to change it up. These new features look minor in this short trailer but when you play it I’m sure you’ll feel the impact more. The jetpacks bother me a lil bit since you can already jump crazy high but whatever. I’m interested to see what new modes they added also.
I’m more of a single player guy so as long as they don’t fluck up the SP I’m good.
Graphically I see no change though, it’s not out yet so i can’t judge completely but the beta has never been to far off in the past. I think that’s what youz guys mean by no change and i agree there 1.4 million X’s!

Here’s what I can say about Halo Reach:
–the explosions look great
–the assassinations are fantastic
–the animation is more fluid
I’m totally hooked after seeing the video.

Ok, Lawl, FIFA may have been a bad example.
Still CoD games all ‘feel’ the same. They pretty much use the same engine throughout, and no one complains as much about that. I don’t like the WW2 versions but do enjoy the Modern Warfare series. There wasn’t much difference between MW1 and MW2 game engine wise, just they have great storylines.
Assassin’s Creed 1 & 2 were practically the same game. Playing AC2 felt EXACTLY like AC1 other than the story was slightly better. The environments were roughly the same and the tasks were roughly the same. I didn’t see that many people complaining about that being the same either.
I suppose all I’m saying is that some games have a ‘feel’ to them. Like all the Halo games play like it’s a Halo game. CoD games play like a CoD game. You get used to how a series of games play, and for some that may get boring.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to this BETA. I will try and enjoy it while it lasts before the long wait for Reach.

Longboy with those places being rooted in the real world past or present a change is perceived by location like the changes between the USA invasion and 3rd world firefights etc in cod. With plot lines changes present or not the setting changes.
Halo is unfortunately all on made up planets that seem to blend together with the same skies and textures being used on alpha centaury 6 or delta tau 9. Halo Reach seems to reach for that but comes up short, why not put us in space, or in a completely water covered planet.
I’m just growing tired of rocky canyons and fortresses being built into the sides of mountains.
Halo is wearing on the souls and pocketbooks of gamers and while it will keep it’s hardcore and large base those of us on the fence and starting to lose interest quickly…
