Most memorable gaming moments of the decade?
What’s yours? I was thinking about this today and it left me with a weird feeling. I felt weird because I couldn’t remember 10 years ago from now. Should I be worried? The decade is coming to a close though so why not think back to the moments that made these past few years so memorable.
Was it the Xbox 360 launch? How about the original Xbox launch? Xbox Live launched so is it that? There are a ton of things that happened so it’ll be tough to list them all but what was your best gaming moment of the decade? Heck why not list your top 5 or 10 most memorable moments!
Here are mine in no particular order:
- the launch of the original Xbox
- the launch of Xbox Live
- the creation of the Duke controller
- the launch of the Xbox 360
- Nintendo Wii (not for me but for everyone else)
- Sony’s E3 Ridge Racer and “real time weapon change” comments
- Peter Moore leaving Microsoft to join EA
- me making rounds throughout the industry (MVP, events, etc)
- the dreaded red rings of death
- HD-DVD losing to Blu-ray
I could go on and on but these are a few things that I’ll likely never forget from this past decade. What say you?

Wow very tough. Gears of War brought me into HD gaming. I bought my 360 because I saw the trailor for the that game. Also, I didn’t play RE4 until 2006. That game brought me back from a 6 year hiatus from gaming. Playing and experiencing Mass Effect.

I remember the PS2 launch being really huge. People getting robbed and beat up for those things! I had a bad experience trying to get one from a website in Canada. Guy took my money but never sent my PS2 bundle. But he got caught and I did get my money back

Seeing Gears of War for the first time inspired me to get a XBOX 360!Blood on the screen was nice!!! Most recently, the launch of Modern Warfare 2. So much hype behind that game and it delivered!

Here are my top gaming moments of the decade, in descending order:
Playing Fable for the first time (October 2004)
The day Halo 2 came out (11th November 2004)
The day I got my Xbox 360 (29th December 2005)
The day I bought my PS2 with Final Fantasy X (23rd June 2002)
Playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time (15th November 2002)
The day Final Fantasy XIII was announced for Xbox 360 (14th July 2008)
Playing Final Fantasy for the first time (March 2001)

-Receiving an Xbox V1 about a year before the 360’s launch
-Midnight release for 360
-The launch of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band franchise

Hands down…the Launch of the 360. First and only time I have ever waited in line for a console…lol, I still have my “Launch Ticket” and receipt. Dunno why I held onto that now that I think about it…:O

@ Caleb I feel you. Even though I’ve gone through 10 Xbox 360s, I still have my original receipt. Same for my Xbox V1.

There are some pretty cool things that have happened in Gaming in the last ten years, which if you said would have happen 10 years ago no-one would have believed you.
Here are my top gaming moments of the past 10 years.
- The original XBOX being lauched, finally a worthy opponent for the Playstation 2. I wasn’t quick to get and XBOX but since I did I have never looked back.
- The lauch of the Halo series.
- The lauch of XBOX Live.
- The ability to save your game progress to a HDD and not worry about having multiple memory cards.
- Buying my XBOX360 Premium.
- Buying my XBOX360 Elite .
- High Definition gaming, I don’t know how we managed without it.
- XBOX360 arcade games. I love playing classic games like Sonic and Worms without having to find the old consoles.
- The long and tiresome debate about which console is better PS2/PS3 or XBOX/XBOX36.
- Microsofts recent 1,000,000 modded console bans across XBOX Live.

Oh, also the lauch of the CoD: Modern Warfare series. The Halo and CoD: Modern Warfare series are epic and are the Sonic/Super Mario of this decade!

GTA IV was 1 of my most memorable gaming moments, pigeons, 100% and all that stuff I couldn’t resist completing.. nightmares yes.
