My wife fully supports my gaming. If it wasn't for her, I doubt I'd be this much of a fan. She actually gave me an Xbox V1 for my birthday with Hit and Run back in '04.

My wife said it best a few days ago while watching King of the Hill. Peggy says to Hank, " I married a man, not a gamer". As I'm walking through the living room my wife responds with a smile on her face, "I did."

Well put gameskillz and shawn. @Shawn, I agree with what your saying and it applies to all gamers, as with everything, if gaming is causing you to ignore your responsibilities it's time to re-evaluate. Don't miss the fine line there as you stated, sometimes people want things done that are a prioritizing issue. One person feels it's important and another doesn't. When you are in that situation the ability to understand each other is key. i.e. take the garbage out... often many people will put it off, causing a classic issue in a relationship whether it be a husband/wife or a child/parent. It usually only takes 5 mins of time to do, why fight? do it.. and save yourself some time. It shows the non-gamer that the pause button still works... If it takes you longer than 5 mins to take out your trash, you may have further issues to discuss, such as home hygiene. ;)

"For the gamers, if your partner is starting to have a real problem with your gaming, then maybe it’s time to take a look at your relationship (and in the interest of fairness, your gaming) and make a decision."

Yah, it's time to let that girl go LOL

Well, at least the girl left without breaking up his gaming equipment. The girl smashing the PS3 video, if you listen to her rant, apparently the guy is unemployed, freeloading off of her, and if he's up until 3:00 am playing video games, he's not likely trying too hard to find a job. Conversely, there is video of a girl smashing a guy's Xbox 360 because he wasn't paying enough attention to her, as near as I could tell from that video, he had a job, and was paying the bills. Now, I'm not going to say that she isn't right to be mad at her for not spending time with her, but it's obvious they have different priorities and that she probably should have just left him rather than vandalizing his property. For the gamers, if your partner is starting to have a real problem with your gaming, then maybe it's time to take a look at your relationship (and in the interest of fairness, your gaming) and make a decision. Frankly if gaming is a huge part of your life and your partner is having a huge problem with it, then it's probably time for one or the other to go. I wonder how the article would have read if she said she broke up with him because he spent to much time on tennis (his job).

For some females, gaming is considered something kids do and not appopriate for a grown man to be doing. My wife doen't have a problem with me gaming as long as it doesn't put us in a financial hole. Like someone stated earlier, time management is the key. I make sure I spend time with my daughter and my wife and if I have free time then I get my game on.

There has to be understanding and communication from the beginning of a relationship to see what he or she likes/dislikes. If the other person is not willing to accept another person's hobby, then problems will errupt.

Well it's not to say there aren't huge demands, I prefer the word commitments, but managing those demands and taking care of my family go hand in hand, one would hope that if you are in a relationship that aspect of your life is understood by your partner and given time just as you make time for the needs of others...

Some excellent points. Mike brings up an excellent point. And while not EVERY woman is like that, many are.

Irish and Pilex, I think you guys are with women who are the exception.

Maybe where I am, it's women in the city, who tend to be more demanding.

I will stand by what I said, because I see it with my friend's and family's wives, they put HUGE demands on their husbands.

I will continue to live by my motto - B.F.L. - Bachelor For Lyfe!!!!

LOL

I was about to say “First off, I will say that this doesn’t annoy me in the slightest. That’s because the type of people who write or agree with that article, are the type who are always going to have bias against games.” But that was before I checked out the link, as I was thinking about other things I wanted to say first.

Now that article really does piss me off! When I read the line “Most guys who play seven hours of video games per day don't even know what a real woman looks like” I was outraged at such a blatant insult. I’m sorry but I’m 22, play more or less that amount every day, and I can think of a hundred women who look hotter than Andy Murray’s girlfriend. She’s a year younger than me, and she looks old enough to be my mum. Plus even then she wouldn’t be milf material.

Then again, the types of women with that fake ‘beauty,’ are never going to be the types who like video games. Just as the type of people who write those articles aren’t. They’re just lame celebrity, sports, fashion idiots. Let them go and say what they want to say, be who they want to be, read what they want to read. They can give all the insults they want, I’d rather live in a gamers world than theirs. We might be playing virtual reality, but we’re more in touch with reality than they’ll ever be.

Now I’ll let somebody else comment, then add how gaming affects me personally. You don’t want it all at once, too much to read ya know =P
