Today is the day that NBA 2K10 and cover athlete Kobe Bryant bring the beef in the 10^th anniversary installment of the NBA 2K franchise.  This celebration of basketball gaming is sure to fill you with excitement.  If you have not caught the commercials for this one yet, you are missing out on getting real giddy and possibly dribbling all over yourself.  This game looks hot!  And even more so seems to be stuffed with all that you need for a great NBA game.

We had the great opportunity to listen in on Erick Boenisch (Lead Feature Designer, 2K Sports) and Rob Jones (Gameplay Director, 2K Sports) as they throw down with all there is to know about NBA 2K10.

Kobe’s presence is known throughout the game which is especially evident in the decked out NBA 2K10: Anniversary Collector’s Edition.  He’s got the cover and he’s got game.

Some of the innovative features that will aid you in wiping the court with your opponent are:

NBA today feature:  Everyday that you are connected online a list of day matchups will be available from the NBA schedule. This will affect the dynamic commentary database which is updated from real world matchups, news and stats which are automatically streamed right into the game. Information such as standings, points, trade ramification and injuries will be taken into account to influence game play. Have fresh info for you to truly be the game.

My player career mode: Will bring more authenticity and innovation to creating your own ultimate NBA player, and guide his every career move.

The Association: Play the game to take your team to the top with full incorporation of the NBA Development League and the ability to control all 30 NBA teams at once.

Crews: Round up your friends and build the ultimate squad using either created players from My Player or an actual NBA team. Watch out all you point and medal whores, the possibility of a new addiction is looming! Earn the right to talk crap, and if you are as good as you claim, even back it up. Gain progression points and try to claim your place on the Crew leader boards.

Signature Play: Signature Play pulls together all of NBA 2K’s player Signature Styles and adds in all-new Signature Tendencies and facial expressions, creating NBA 2K10 teams that play and react like their real life counterparts for an unbelievably realistic NBA experience.

Save & Quit Current Game : A new game play feature that allows you to save a game right where you are and come back to it later to the point where you saved it.

It’s great to know that feedback from the fans were taken into account to improve the existing elements from the previous NBA 2K games and bring about new innovative features.  Striving for improvement is essential for becoming excellent and 2K Sports may have a winner with NBA 2K10.
