Indie Games Exist, UNSTOPPABLE

This may be something unknown to a lot of you but there exists this thing called Indie Games on the Xbox 360.  Some of you may remember them as “Community Games” and you should know that they’re games developed by independent developers not backed by any studio.  I have a sort of connection with Indie Games being an indie blog and podcast.  It’s important to support those out there who are trying to accomplish something without the added benefit of “the man” or corporate giant shelling out $ for their efforts.

Coming this Fall is JForceGames’ UNSTOPPABLE. It has some cool elements in it that include blowing up things up, zombies and lots of blood/gore. It’s one of those titles that could easily be overlooked because of the “Indie Games” label but that’s why I’m here. I’m here to make sure you don’t overlook a few possible gems. Check out the video below.

Indie Games cost a fraction of what you would normally spend on a fully fledged Xbox LIVE Arcade title or even what you’d spend on normal DLC these days.  I will admit that there are some crazy titles coming out of the Indie Games department.  But then there are those that are actually taking advantage of what Indie Games is all about and giving people another alternative…a good alternative.

What say you?  Are you guys giving any attention to or buying Indie Games?

  1. I wasn’t planning on buying any Indie games…But the game in the video you put up, looks pretty interesting, I may give it a shot when it comes out.

  2. I’ll give it a try when it comes out. I don’t know why but I do just skip over that channel and there’s a lot of cool things there. I blame Hitler!

  3. I’ve bought 4 or 5 already. I try to browse the New Releases and Top Downloaded on a weekly basis to see if I can find any other good gems.

  4. in the past couple weeks, i’ve become a huge Indie Games channel advocate. the channel has a good number of really fun and CHEAP games. and one thing it has that people always ask for in DLC and XBLA is price drops. if you watch this page http://xboxindies.com/games/?s=d you’ll see that games price drop a lot, especially lately with the new 80 point price.

if you’ve been ignoring the channel, check it out. the new content rating feature in NXE has done a pretty good job of highlighting the good games on the Indies channel.

  5. I love the Indie Games channel, although it is flooded with derivative apps. There are some great games. The “Highest Rated” tab is a good place to start.

Blow, CarneyVale Showtime, CaveIn: Miner Rescue Team, Glitnir, Johnny Platform’s Biscuit Romp, World Revolution, ZoomaRoom

These are just some of my favorites so far.

I am excited to find out the results of Dream Build Play 2009 early next month. I have a feeling that more than a few of the entries this year will make the jump to XBLA. A sad loss for Indie Games Channel fans, but great that the most amazing entries will get the better exposure and revenue that the Arcade gets vs. Indie Games.
