Video: Avatar Marketplace, Color Palette & More
What’s up gaming boys and girls? It should be no secret that the latest Xbox LIVE update has begun and those of you who signed up for the public preview of it (and were accepted) will have a chance to dig in soon. Yes that’s right. Emails to the lucky few will go out soon and you should have a little more than a week to try the new update before the rest of the world does on August 11. For those of you who don’t make it into the preview, I made these videos highlighting a few things to look forward to.
A lot of the press and media have already dissected some of the new features for you so it may not be much of a surprise but there were a few things that they missed. One of the things that most haven’t mentioned is the addition of a color palette. I’ll go over that new option and even give the ladies a look at the female Avatar side of things. Things are a little different between male and female Avatars that I thought was interesting. Hey, there are female gamers in teh world and I’m sure they’d like to see female Avatars getting some news/video love too.
Another cool thing (and one of my favorites) is the Gold Member Veteran Icon that Xbox LIVE Gold members receive to show off how long they’ve been a member of Xbox LIVE. Check out the second video for a look at mine! I have a fancy 6 because I’ve been a member since launch in 2002.

That shirt is COOL lol, and I want a real RC Wathog right now! Colour pallette ftw too. I really like the Achievement Progress feature. Much better than having to go to a site to get a quick summary of the games which I have completed. Bring on the update…

Major Nelson just tweeted that there are still open spots for the update preview program … if you havent signed up I suggest you do so tonight … e-mails start going out tomorrow …

I also noticed that Xbox shirt had the 9 color options over the weekend. I hope that they will update more shirts with this option.

@ Deacon In your 6 years on Live, have you ever hit Silver? I’m curious if the number badge is just how long you’ve been on Live or how long you’ve been an actual member.

thanks Hazy! and nope i’ve never been Silver. the number is when you joined Xbox LIVE. call Xbox Support for your join date. but you have to be a currently active Gold member for it to count

This update is pretty cool. Checked my connect page and it didn’t say welcome or anything, I didn’t get an e-mail. I didn’t think I would get approved but I went to edit my avatar about an hour ago and was disconnected for an update!
