Go to Hell with Dante’s Inferno
Visceral Games is sending you to hell…in a good way. Dante’s Inferno just might be another silent and deadly killer of a game from this studio. Visceral Games is the studio behind one of my favorite games, Dead Space. They’re at it again with a title that could be even more disturbing than the Necromorphs we faced in Dead Space. Let me introduce you to Dante’s Inferno. It’s based on one of the world’s most interesting pieces of literature, the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
It’s so difficult to make a game that’s based off of a movie, book or in this case, a poem. Developers are often restricted from following the source material to the letter so you get an experience that never really lives up to whatever it was based upon. That doesn’t appear to be the case with Dante’s Inferno. Gamers may be in for a sick and evil ride.
The latest developer diary centers around another circle of Hell, Lust. I’m sure we’ve all experienced that particular sin at one point. And just hearing the Dante Team talk about penises and porn increases my faith that they’re not shying away from the source material. Check out the developer diary below.
Dante’s Inferno just made it acceptable to want to go to Hell. This game is going to disturb me in ways I thought not possible (I hope) and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it. The story is amazing and if they use all the circles of hell in this game it will be cool. Im pretty amped to play this one.

I have this on my Gamespot watchlist, which I rarely use. I’m really interested in this. I’ve come across things from the poem in countless games, like FF etc. So I really want to get into what it actually all is

OMG this is great! I can’t wait for this I have read the book 3 times now from start to end and gone back to read other parts of it from time to time. I al very excited to see what the final product will be…
