Ghostbusters: The Video Game Review
The design of the Proton Packs was down to the smallest detail. As you switched between weapons, you could see the Proton Pack and its parts changing. I must admit that I absolutely loved the PKE Meter and the way it captured information about ghosts and picked up nasty trails of slime. I wished you were able to fire with the PKE Meter equipped.

The one thing I was puzzled about was the sound in the game. Hearing the original score and all the quirky sounds was great but the voice work is where it fell short for me. For all the love I have for Bill Murray, he didn’t quite deliver the same Peter Venkman classics the way I remember. I know he was reading from a script and it felt like he was reading from a script. Egon, Winston and Ray were all much better though. You could sense the love that Dan and Harold had for this title because their lines were delivered with the same enthusiasm from the films.
The bad thing about this game is that it’s short and once you’re done, you’re done. There really isn’t much of a reason to replay it unless you are an Achievement whore or one who has to collect all the artifacts in the game. There is a higher difficulty setting but that alone doesn’t offer much variety to warrant another play. I’m quite sure die hard fans will replay the hell out of this game but if you aren’t, you won’t find much.
Xbox LIVE Extras
One of the biggest features in a game like this had to have been co-op play. I’m happy to say that you can grab a few friends and play the game co-op style across Xbox LIVE. I wish there was offline co-op but this is the next best thing. I thought this game just screamed top-down 4-player action but alas, there is none. You can fight through campaign missions together and complete jobs together. There are six type of jobs to choose from so the variety should keep the online enjoyment high.
The best part about online play is that you can choose any of the characters so you finally get to play as one of the regular Ghostbusters as opposed to being stuck as the Rookie. And it was also pretty smooth for me when I played. I can’t say there won’t be any lag but there wasn’t any during the games I played.
Conclusion
What do you get when you reunite the people responsible for two of the all-time classic films? You get a solid Ghostbusters title that leaves you itching for a third film. Hearing the scientific talk of Stantz and Spengler alone makes this game worth having in your gaming library. There are only a couple of people in the world that could make you smile at talk of a cross-pathogenic-ion-transmitter-particle-stream and the cast of Ghostbusters are those people. I know Alyssa Milano was supposed to be a big thing but it was all about the Ghostbusters to me.
They came, they saw, they conquered and they kicked a relatively nice amount of ass. If you’re a fan of Ghostbusters, you will appreciate everything this game is about. And even if you’re not a fan of the films, you’ll find a quality gaming experience being a Ghostbuster. It’s everyone’s fantasy. Don’t deny it. We’ve all fantasized about sliding down the pole. I do have to wonder though if this game will suffer because there’s no new movie releasing alongside it. Sure the original films are being released on Blu-ray again but will that be enough to convince people to buy the game? I think it would’ve helped to have a new adventure of Ghostbusters arriving in theaters.
Who you gonna call?

Limited replayability, that stinks
Otherwise looks like a really nice game. This is probably a rental.

That’s too bad, they could have included so much material to allow us to enjoy the game even more.
Wonder if they will have future DLC so more stories or missions get available…

depends on if Atari wants to front the # for DLC

Little replay value seems to be a common trend in gaming these days.
