1 Vs 100 Beta Impressions
I finally got a chance to play the 1 Vs. 100 Beta this weekend. Saturday night at 7PM CST I met up with a few friends and was immediately “in the game”. I was pleased because the previous weekend I kept getting a “game is full” error that prevented me from joining. But I had immediate success Saturday night and got my first go at 1 Vs. 100 to see if I could destroy The One.

The first thing I had to figure out was how to make my Avatar dance around. A couple of presses on the Left Stick and Y button had my little dude dancing around. It gave me something to do while waiting for the round to start and even between rounds. After I found out how to entertain myself, I was thrust into the mob. It was time to play. You score points based on the speed at which you answer questions and how difficult those questions end up being. If you answer the fastest and a lot of people get the question wrong, you gain a butt load of points. Think of it as a multiplier. If 20 people miss the question, it multiplies in points for you. I had fun answering all kinds of silly question. Who knew that Pyrex was a form of glass? I didn’t.
There were some audio problems throughout the night. I could never hear Chris Cashman much if at all. I played for nearly an hour and only heard him for maybe 2 minutes of that. The disappointing thing about the beta was that no one actually got tossed for answering incorrectly. I suppose at some point during the beta they’ll do an actual test run.
Overall, I think this game will be a huge hit when it officially launches. The possibility of winning real prizes like XBLA games and Microsoft Points will entice quite a few people. I hope Microsoft is prepared for what this free game will become. I’d hate for it to release and have serious issues with servers.

Really looking forward to this one and yes the idea of winning real prize’s sound awesome to me.

I really had a lot of fun with it this weekend. Party up with some friends and playing some trivia games is more fun than I though i would be.

yeh the reason it went like that last night Deac was because it was an “exteneded play”. While you were playing they said that those game were to help in deciding if you get in the mob or the one when playing a normal game. so on the extended plays like last night no1 gets tossed and there is only the mob. at least thats wat i got out of it

my understanding is that no one gets tossed normal or extended play during the beta. i don’t know how they determine the mob…i know how they determine the One but it’s anyone’s guess at the mob.

hmm i thought that people do get tossed in normal games. but the announcer in the beta yesterday said that how you do in extended play determines if your in the mob or the one. they should just make an FAQ

I love 1vs100. Haven’t missed a Live show or an extended play yet! So far I have over 400 entries for my chances of becoming NEO for a day.

Hope this helps to clarify how the game works. Don’t quote me on any of it, since it’s only the impressions I’ve gotten from playing so far.
During the regular 1vs100, the Mob and the One are chosen at random from all the players participating- so out of 90,000 or whatever, only 101 are actually playing the game, everyone else is just spectating and answering the questions for fun (or against the 3 other players you might be partied with).
Extended Play pits everyone against each other for a 30-minute round, where it’s basically an extended version of the four-player spectating game. In EP, stats are what matter- consistency and maintaining your streak could put you on the leaderboards.

To my understanding of it too, all players regardless of ONE, MOB or other, have chances to win prizes..it’s based on points…so if you do not get chosen as MOB or ONE, don’t fret…there is still a chance to win something. It’s based on how quickly you answer with correct answers.

I have participated in all the games since the US beta started. At least I can tell you I received the content as my 360 is setup for the US. On the latest extended games, it looks like you really have to keep the streak of correct answers to appear on the leaderboards on a good position.
All in all, a great experience.

Argh I can’t wait for this!!! I will be spending so much time on this when it launches. I’m hoping for a UK BETA soon. I knew Pyrex was glass btw, got a dish in the cupboard somewhere made of it. It’s what Pilex reminds me of lol
