E3 2009 Begins, What Are You Expecting?

What used to be the mecca of gaming trade shows has returned to form…or has it?  Suffering from mediocre reviews over the past few years, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) decided to go back to what made it so successful and let the public run rampant.  I hear there are booth babes as well.   But what are we expecting this year from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo?  I’ll give you my list of things I’d like to see and we can then see if Christmas will come early for us all.

Keynote Times

Microsoft – June 1 – 10:25AM PST, 12:25PM CST, 1:25PM EST

e3

Games (what I want to see)

The Saboteur, Alan Wake, God of War 3, Blur, Army of Two: The 40th Day, Dark Void, Lost Planet 2

Announcements (what I expect)

Microsoft – obviously some attention will be given to motion control.  more Halo?  new TV partnerships?  I’m sure we’ll see Activision pimping its new peripherals

Nintendo – more peripherals to play with.  Wii orchestra or Wii Gymnasium.  new DSi features?

Sony – more on God of War 3.  more hardware revisions.  price drop.

The keynote from Microsoft begins shortly and I plan to tune in.  I hope there’s something interesting but to be honest, I’m set in gaming right now.  Any cool announcements will be icing on the cake for me.

Surprises

Microsoft - does the Konami exclusive come true?  does Metal Gear Solid reach Xbox?

Nintendo – do we see another Mario that’s worth blogging about?  another Metroid Prime, Zelda?

Sony – is there anything up their sleeve at this point that could matter much?  an extension to PlayStation Home perhaps?

I usually watch it on xbox.com but Gametrailers supposedly has it in HD so I’m going to try that out. As far as announcements go I’ll wait and see, I’ll be happy with some juicy Mass Effect 2 news.

I tried watching it on G4’s website last year but it was real choppy at points. Gamespot was pretty descent. I’ll be looking from there.

I was excited to see Metal Gear Solid: Raiden. Wasn’t expecting that! Everything else was more sequels: Crackdown 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Forza 3, etc. I really didn’t like the motion camera. I wonder how accurate it will be when you move.

Nice preditions, you were right about more Halo too :P I got goosebumps when that announcement was made. I’m all for Project Natal btw, just the thought of turning my console on with facial recognition sold it for me. Lol at Final Fantasy XIV ‘exclusivity’ too, I knew that would happen. Nintendo’s was bore fest again, apart from Golden Sun 3 and the new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
