Avatar Marketplace Coming
First let me just say that the Microsoft E3 2009 Keynote was insane! It was filled with a lot of win and a few fails but I’ll have more on that later. I’m picking a few things to post about from the E3 floor and this one is first. You should all know that Avatars have been one of the more disappointing things in my opinion of the NXE. I haven’t changed my Avatar in months because the variety of clothing sucks.

Well, enter the Avatar Marketplace to hopefully change all of that. You should’ve already known about this though. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how freely you give away your Microsoft Points. As you can see there are new categories of things being introduced that will come with a price tag. I’m not sure of how these things will be priced but if you want to sport something “designer”, then you’ll have to pay.

This blows. I don’t want to pay for my virtual doll to get all jazzed up. Whatever happen to putting them in retail games or XBLA purchases? I think gaining new stuff through achievements would be just as sweet. They are screwing up here.

Paying to customize my avatar? What a joke. To all 360 gamers: In the name of all things sane, do not purchase any of this crap.

Not going to buy stuff like that. Sorry, I’ll stick with the free stuff I guess.

Yea this is just plain retarded. Microsoft’s E3 did suck and I’m a DIE HARD Microsoft fan too.

For those saying the Microsoft E3 was bad, you have to remember the US economy has still not recovered and consumers are spending FAR less. Companies have already projected this and are cutting back across the board. So it only makes sense you wouldn’t see a super E3 for Microsoft.

well there’s also going to be stuff you can unlock by playing a game. there’s an image of an ODST Halo unlockable. so at least there’s that.

Just give me my damn Rock Band instrument shirts and I’ll be one happy avatar.

Paying for this stuff sucks. Unlocking it through achievements rocks.
I also felt that MSs E3 was a solid showing and quite good. They showed some pretty cool stuff this year including Alan Wake, CD2, Forza 3, Natal, and much more. I rather liked what I saw.
Let’s see if Sony can top it.

Not paying for that either.
They should include stuff in games (put Resident evil and get Zombies customisation) or by accomplishments.

I think that unlocking the new stuff thru acheivements would be the way to go cause then you got to get the game to unlock the stuff you want therefore microsoft would get even more money!!! altho i think i might get the lil warthog car for my avatar that looks playa haha
June 18th, 2009 at 10:41 am
you guys are all stupid they are giving away costumes with the acheivments but if you want props and shit it cost like 10 microsoft points

[...] awards. That’s a good theory and probably one that is likely true. You remember the Avatar Marketplace that’s coming [...]

I didn’t even see this announced at E3 :S Which I loved btw, MS’s was amazing. Back to the point though, you can count me as one of MANY who will not be spending precious points on avatar crap. Achievements with items ftw though, just adds another reason to choose the 360 version of a multi-platform game – “Wow I unlocked a trophy for Home”, “Well I unlocked an achievement, and some Mjolnir armour for myself”

Either getting avatar items by achievements or the points you earn through getting achievements should be the way. Who on Gods good earth will spend $ on their avatar! RETARDED! I never would have updated just for that. Most of the crap I can’t get in Canada like Netflix. If I can its a sad little shadow of the stuff Americans can access. I told mu hubby we should have got a PS#. BOOO Microsoft!
