Activision, Oh Activision – Guitar Hero Pimpin’
How can I pimp a franchise? Oh let me count the ways. Activision’s pimp hand is very strong as details (and images) emerge about more (yes more) games in the Guitar Hero franchise. DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, Band Hero, Guitar Hero: (Pick A Band). Save the last mention, these are all titles releasing this year in the Guitar Hero franchise. Yes on top of what has already released, there are 4 additional games coming.
For those of you who haven’t heard about DJ Hero, here’s an image I scoped from Gamertag Radio of the coming peripheral being included with the game. I shouldn’t have to explain what the game will be about but for the common sense challenged, it’s about being a bonafied DJ mixing and scratching your way to the top. I have very serious doubts that this will provide you with any tools to become a bonafied DJ. I hope you didn’t take me seriously for even a moment about that.

I’m sure that all of you aspiring DJ’s out there will love getting your hands on this plastic turntable. “Hey DJ won’t you play my song, keep me dancin’ (DANCIN) all night long”. I can’t fault a company for milking something as long as people are willing to pay but you have to believe that at some point this will get ridiculous eh? I love the Guitar Hero games as much as the next guy but how many plastic instruments can one living room take?
It doesn’t appear likely that Activision will ease up on the spin off’s so enjoy the milking. Guitar Hero: Save The Last Dance anyone?

I’m not gonna lie, I’d like to check it out, I just can’t afford to.

I don’t get how Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero are different.

Its just really getting ridiculous with Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, etc. I’m a Hip-Hop fan but this really doesn’t peak my interest. And this concept has been done before(remember Def Jam Icon??).

Def Jam Icon didn’t have a plastic turntable lol

I don’t care for the guitar or band games anymore but a DJ game would be cool. I have always wanted hip hop in Rock Band so I can rap to it, but no one will ever put more than the Beastie Boys in the games.

I don’t understand how a DJ Guitar Hero game would work. The point of being a DJ is to add your own style, the point of Guitar Hero is to replicate a real song and be scored on it. How can those be put together?

What’s next? Banjo Hero?

Harmonica Hero is probably a possibility.

“We need more cowbell!”

@caleb – The Cowbell is in Lips… Ok, I’ve spun for parties at times, now I’m no super DJ an didn’t scratch or stuff like that, but the key is two Turntables. I don’t get the three buttons on the top. Sorry, this does nothing for me an I’m glad I still have my 1200 an LPs to play with.

@ DeaconBlade, I know Def Jam Icon didn’t have a turntable smarta$$ LOL but as far as gameplay where you had to scratch at a certain point in the game is almost similar. I’ll stick to Guitar Hero for now.
