E74 Victims Worry No More, Warranty Covers It
Some of you may have received the mysterious E74 error with your Xbox 360 sometime during the past few months. It has been called in a few circles “the new Red Ring of Death” since the NXE launched. Apparently Microsoft is agreeing with the lot of you and therefore are extending its default 3-year warranty to cover both the RROD and the E74 errors. Thanks to all my Twitter followers for spreading this news.

“After investigating the issue, we have determined that the E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. As a result, we have decided to cover repairs related to the E74 error message under our three-year warranty program for certain general hardware failures that was announced in July 2007.” – Microsoft

That’s what I though son! Like totally dude! I think next gen will be the first gen that I wait a bit to get a new system (confused?), of course then this will be when a bug free console is released. XD

So we have until 2010 before the RROD and E74 errors stop being covered right?

Hmm, I’m guessing this error is irreversible meaning only Xbox can fix it?

well I guess the conspiracy that MS changed the RROD to E74 in the NXE update can be put to rest now … hopefully everyone that paid to have the latest epidemic repaired, that is now covered, will be reimbursed like last time as well …

Let’s hope Microsoft’s next console doesn’t have any failure issues.

… unless you live in Venezuela like me, Irish, then I will have to pull out $150 (or more) for local repair. Argh!!!

Still pretty sad that these issues are still going strong and we’re well into 2009. The whole rrod debacle should have been stabilized back in 06 when the problem first started occurring.
