I just removed auto renewal via the web on the accounts page. All you do is go to “Membership Level”, keep clicking “Next, Next, Next” till you get to the auto renewal page (Good job in hiding this feature so deeply M$). And then click Off. Simple… Now if i go back to my accounts page it says my account will expire in X days, haha sweet, now i dont have to call them! woot!

If your expired credit card is tied to your xbox live account then you will no be able to delete it or change to another account from your console or xbox.com. Instead, you have to go here –>>> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819003/ and follow the link to microsoft billing to change your payment method and remove your expired credit card

Yeah well then go to the xbox site and turn off autorenewal (this has to be off first before removing card)….since apparently we can do that now, but not a couple months ago…then look at the date which for auto-renewal…okay so by this time you turned off auto-renewal yes?..now wait until that date comes for auto renewal (xbox site will say something like “hey! put your auto-renewal back on! we want your money!”….then on that day (maybe its better to do it the following day) go to account information or whatever it’s called, and click “remove” to remove your credit card.. so really this is all like a 2-part process

when i try this it just says, This payment option cannot be removed at this time. Go to the Payment method information page to view services associated with this payment option. what do i do :S?!?!

The CC still stays on file at your Microsoft billing center. This only removes it from your Xbox LIVE subscription.

I just called the support number (18004MYXBOX) to cancel autorenewal of a monthly subscription I purchased. This is the process if you are tied to an active subscription.

Took about 6 minutes to talk to a representative. I explained I wanted autorenewal disabled. We spent 5 minutes going over my e-mail, gamertag, billing address, last four digits of CC, etc. to verify my ownership.

After 3 more minutes I was transferred to a representative in billing or cancellation. I was asked why I purchased it last month and wanted to discontinue. I made up that I’m losing internet connection at my house next month. He asked if any friends were willing to take over the account. He didn’t want me to cancel subscription. But I told him I want it to not autorenew and he said he’d change my account to accommodate this.

I was given a support number that is linked to my gamertag and possibly the conversations I had, in case I need to call back/change my account further. As of fifteen minutes after the call, my Xbox.com account for the gamertag hadn’t updated to disabled autorenewal.
