Video: Data Transfer 20Gig to 120Gig Hard Drive
This new LE Resident Evil 5 Red Xbox 360 Elite journey has brought more to the table than I figured it would. It has created an opportunity for me to go back over a few key things about the process that’s involved when getting a new Xbox 360 console. You could find yourself in a serious state of confusion and anger if you don’t know how to properly upgrade to a new unit.

Not only do you have to transfer your hard drive data (game saves, profiles etc), you also have to make sure your licenses are transferred. Thank goodness that I wasn’t asleep when the new DRM tool was introduced a few months back. Thanks to the DRM Tool – Fix for Content Licensing article here on U360, I was able to get my licenses transferred in seconds. I transferred over 450 licenses in an instant. Color me impressed indeed. Read up on the article after you’ve finished your hard drive transfer. It’s the last step you need to take in order to complete the upgrade.
Anyway, here’s the video of the first step in properly upgrading to a new Xbox 360 console. I’m sure plenty of you know how to do this but for the few who don’t, I hope it helps. In the video I make a reference to the Migration Kit form. You can download and find more information about that form right here.

I’ve still got a 20 GB with 9.4 GB of space left! I just deleted a bunch of preloaded content and I delete stuff I’ll never use again.

It surprised me that it took over an hour to transfer my 20GB to my new 60GB drive, but it ran smoothly and works great now!

I went through the data migration and license transfer with my Pro to my Elite back in November. One thing I would like to add. If you have multiple profiles on your console, you have to perform the data migration for each account that had purchased and downloaded content in the past. For example I have three profiles on my console and all have purchased content. In order to get all licenses transferred to your new console you will need to perform the content transfer from each profile. At least I had too.
Nice Video Deacon.

that sucks though about the multiple profiles if that’s true. crazy. good thing i only have one profile that purchases content.

The red-ness is sick.
I just went ahead and grabbed a 120 gig and kept the white one, I do however wish she was quieter, it looks like a white elite which I dig. Kudo’s Deacon!
