Versus Mode for Resident Evil 5
The dawn of the next Resident Evil is upon us as is the dawn of the Limited Edition Resident Evil 5 Red Xbox 360 Elite. I shall have it in my undead hands soon but that’s not the important thing right now. The important thing is that Capcom is adding an additional mode to Resident Evil 5 post-launch.

Tired of working together with other players in Resident Evil 5? Ready to show your co-op partner exactly what you think of their gaming abilities? The new mode, called ‘Versus,’ adds a deadly twist to Resident Evil 5’s multiplayer, pitting players against each other in a contest of survival, a marked departure from the central co-operative nature of the game.
Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor’s Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles.
Versus will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network a few weeks after Resident Evil 5 is available. Versus will be available for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $3.99 $4.99 on the PlayStation Network. Why is it a dollar more for the Xbox? Anyway, Versus mode requires the Resident Evil game software in order to be played. (duh)
Be witness to some screenshots of Versus mode here.

Not bad. I will probably end up getting this DLC. Come on, midnight!

sounds fun, but also sounds like capcom milking us for more money like street fighter 4 with the costumes.
i could guess that this content is hidden on the disk already.
if not then it makes sense to have a player vs player finaly in a resident evil game

Seems as though every shooter game lately has to have a multiplayer mode. I hope this one works out. I’m a fan of the series so I’ll be picking this one up.

I don’t understand how this is going to work… by the time someone is shooting you, you turn around and you’re dead because you can’t shoot and run at the same time… BLAH!!!

hit y for action move shift, lol i completely agree with you, must rent it first, i’ll support their sales to video rental places but prolly cant give em 60 bux this time

I agree with ShiftTab, this game is NOT a FPS, so I hope this Versus mode isn’t like that. It SHOULD be like the Left 4 Dead coop multiplay.

I’m not sure I believe what Capcom would want us to buy into here when they say, “that this is not just a patch to open data largely already available on the store bought version”. If that’s true, then why does the official strategy guide that I got the same day the game hit the shelves provide complete details on the “Versus” mode. Seems fishy to me!!!! Do I smell BS or is that just the smell of over-ripe greed????

Versus mode is on the disc, but Capcom cut it off so they could do this, they were going to make it an unlockable thing like mercianries mode. However, seems like they want more money on a patch, i’m betting they would’ve done that with resident evil 4 if it was a 360 and ps3 game. One thing i know will happen, loads of Wesker users will pop up on it.

hey, vs mode is cool n at the same time its crap, bcoz u hav to buy it, n many ps3 players in the world buy expensiv games n dont hav the cridet card to buy its cool items, so y does not the games company do like this —> sell an orijnal game disk, then send the game item in another disk shops to buy, dats will b easier to buy, m i rite!!
