Amazon Offers Credit for Used Games
Best Buy. Toys “R” Us. And now online retailer Amazon is digging into the trading of used games market. I’m sure GameStop is all smiles on this. It’s currently in beta but this program will allow you to send in your games and receive an Amazon gift card deposited into your account.

You can even check on the trade-in values of your games before sending them in. Did I mention shipping your used games is free? Yep, they’re really trying to sink their teeth into this market. Games must be in good condidtion though which includes the manual, cover art and case. So it’s not like GameStop who would take even just a disk.
How many of you shop at Amazon and plan to take advantage of this? As far as I can tell, the trade-in values aren’t much better than GameStop’s. I try to never trade my games in and when I have to, I just go to Blockbuster. I’ve had much better luck there with value on trade-ins.
What say you about trading games in?

I never trade games in. Anyone on here who has seen my list, knows this. I’m just a collector. That being said, if I was to trade games in, I wouldn’t. I would sell them online, on Ebay, or Craiglist and get the going rate.
You can always get MORE by going this route than trading in. I understand some people don’t want to deal with the hassle, and some kids don’t have Ebay accounts or are too young to do this.
Gamestop has practically cornered the market on used games, so more competition is OK in my book.
Deac you should know Blockbuster won’t be around much longer

People should always keep the good games, & don’t buy crappy games unless they are cheap already… Then you will never have the need to trade games in.

I only trade when i get a good deal…

Still, if you’re looking to trade in games this is a nice option. You’re not tied in to using the resulting funds at a specific store and Amazon sells about everything.

It’s great to options for trading in games. As Jigsaw mentioned, Amazon sells nearly everything.

They are all built of the Gamestop model. Toys R us and this. The only benefit is that with Amazon, you can use the gift cards for anything since Amazon sells more than just games.. it different.

I’m a collector as well, I keep them and like to play them over an over pretty much. Sure I might no things ahead of time the 2nd time through, but its the same with movies or a book. I still enjoy them again an again. I guess it also helps knowing that I’m not going to get what I want for a trade at one of these places. On the other hand, I like buying them used and finding the steals. I just picked up Bioshock & Fallout 3 for $40 total. Not bad for waiting on these titles in my book. I plan to get Mass Effect for about $15 next.

I actually just sent off some games yesterday to try this out. I was a huge xbox 360 game collector, I had about 175 give or take, I now own around 40 or so. Sold the majority of them on craigslist and to friends. I’ve pretty much stopped playing my 360 and switched to PC gaming. No more stupid Avatars! I’ll give an update after the trade is done.

If I kept every single game I’ve played I would have no room in my house for my family. Once I’ve gotten all the gameplay value out of a game it just takes up space after a long period of time so I trade it in if I can get a good price for it. I still have games from my PSOne and my PS2 only because they are collectables and I don’t mind playing them again. I normally go to Blockbuster now for my trade in’s which is better than what Gamestop could offer. But Amazon isn’t a bad option either since you have other things to choose from.
