Community Piece – Top 5 Xbox LIVE Arcade Titles
Unscripted 360 was born right from the community as an outlet to shine on the people who make playing games a bit more enjoyable. Those people are you. Those people are me. So it’s a pleasure to submit content from the community when I can to give you all something else to enjoy from the minds of the gamer next to you.
Here’s a Community Piece from our very own ShiftTab. Please direct all your anger and disbelief at his Top 5 away from me and straight at him. Yaris? Seriously ShiftTab. Okay, my bad. (smile)
Community Piece
If you’re like me and haven’t purchased a game in awhile, you might be craving to get your hands onto something new. With the economy being crummy as is, dishing out $59.99 for a new title isn’t exactly in everyone’s budget. So to bring you guys into a more budget-friendly game, I present to you my Top 5 Xbox 360 Arcade titles in no particular order.
Bomberman Live

For 800 points, you’re really in for a treat. If you’ve ever enjoyed the Bomberman series, this is a classic. Although there isn’t much depth to the game considering the fact that there is no story, the multiplayer factor really makes the game. Even being released in July 07, surprisingly there is still a good number of players playing online. You can play up to 8 players and battle it out to survive. I personally enjoy the classic 4-player match up. What keeps me coming back is the in game avatar where you can collect different types of clothes to make your own Bomberman unique.
Price: 800 Points

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

This beast is priced at 1200 points. Now don’t get too scared of the price. The trial won’t get you anything unless you have a second controller because you’re only allowed to play local matches with another friend. That being said, I don’t think I even need to explain the game. It’s just that good. Yeah Street Fighter 4 is coming out in less than 2 weeks, but I’m not ready to dish out $60 just yet. (I’m not hardcore Street Fighter gamer, just casual). However, since I do like a good fight every once in awhile, the online multiplayer factor keeps me coming back wanting to face challengers.
Price: 1200

UNO

Honestly, no seriously. Do you not have this game yet? It’s only 400 points with camera, avatar, and multiplayer enabled. Like Bomberman, this is a classic game that never gets old. I find myself playing Uno late at night before bedtime. It’s one of those games where paying attention isn’t incredibly important because instead of figuring out what cards are needed to play, the computer automatically tells you what your options are. I’d say it’s a fun kick back game where you can just socialize with other gamers and have a good time.
Price: 400

Aegis Wing

Now you can’t complain about this one. Why, because it is free! This is your typical side-scroller shooter game. Just to give you a background on where this game came about, J. Allard created a summer internship in 2006. Three students designed this game and created a simple, yet fun title. Considering that in mind, you’re not losing quality because students designed the game. However, it’s only free in North America to my knowledge. Check this one out if you are not up to spending any points just yet.

Bionic Commando Rearmed

Last, I present to you Bionic Commando Rearmed. At a price of 800 points, this title is the only arcade game I have mentioned without a multiplayer aspect. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not a good game (even though I base most of my judgment off the multiplayer factor). This is another side scroller which some may recall from the original 1988 NES release.
This is a different type of side scroller though. There is no such thing as jumping in this game…well technically. You have this bionic arm that gets you place to place and that’s the whole purpose of the game. What keeps me coming back are the ridiculous time trials. In the trials, you’re put in an obstacle course where timing is just key and there are many different obstacle courses so it’s definitely a challenge. Also, the game’s soundtrack is one of classics.
Price: 800
Release Date: August 14, 2008
Overall Reviews: 7-9
So there you have it. My Top 5. Yes, there is Castle Crashers, Braid, Portal, and all those other expensive titles that have so many good reviews but the point I’m trying to get across are the games that keep me coming back and playing again.
Also taking into considering of some budget friendly games. If you haven’t played any of these titles, I highly suggest you try them out. Hopefully one may come to your liking. If you own all 5 titles like myself and are still bored out of your mind, I honestly don’t know what to tell you. Maybe check out the free 2 week trial of Netflix and watch a bunch of movies.

I agree with Aegis Wing, it’s a top notch title, and even UNO. But where’s Castle Crashers and Worms? Or Portal: Still Alive?!?
