NXE Report – Marketplace Online
You’ve all read my other two NXE Reports so prepare yourselves for another dose. This time I wanted to take a look at perhaps the most convenient features that the latest system update brought to owners of the Xbox 360. That feature of course is the Xbox LIVE Marketplace online. I don’t think it’s been talked about enough or even promoted enough as a significant feature. It’s not perfect but it adds so much convenience to your downloading that I didn’t want to go on without informing the masses (those who didn’t already know at least).

How it works is that you can now queue up the downloads of your choice directly on the web. If you get wind of a timed item on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and you’re not at home, then hop on the internet and simply add it to your download queue to be downloaded when you return to power up your console. As soon as you turn your console on, anything you have in your queue will begin downloading instantly. You can purchase any content, videos or schedule any demos pretty easily.
How do I purchase from LIVE Marketplace on the Web?
Once you’ve decided on the content you want, simply click the Download to Xbox 360 button to start the purchase flow. If you are not signed in, you will be asked to log into your Xbox LIVE account. If you do not have an Xbox LIVE account, you can create an account in a few easy steps. If the item you are buying requires points, you must first purchase Microsoft Points and will be asked to provide your billing and credit card information. If you have enough Microsoft Points, you can simply confirm your purchase and the item will be added to your Download Queue.
The one thing I’m disappointed in though is that the entire Marketplace catalog isn’t available. Specifically, you can’t queue up any picture packs (hello 360 Laws Picture Packs). I wanted to provide some direct links to the online downloads of the picture packs but I couldn’t. I guess it’s for the more important stuff. Still, I’m impressed with the delivery of the Marketplace online. What say you? Have you tried it?

well there isn’t anything for european people to download, so its not so big of a feature for me.
my marketplace hasn’t updated itself in weeks. except for the new avatar items. and the removal of the happy holidays blade(is it a blade hmm?)

I use it when the weekly RB DLC isn’t up by the time I leave. It’s also very nice to be able to only view the HD movies. Very helpful.

I had a quick browse just after the update, it seemed okay. I havn’t really had a chance to use it though, as I rarely download anything (unless it’s free). Which leads to my problem with it, I want a ‘free stuff’ section
Plus like Lawl pointed out, only really the US marketplace has something good to offer.

It’s slow but not as slow as trying to download things on the xbox has become so I end up using it. It also seems like it needs to be restructured so that you can get at the content you are looking for faster.

I’ve set up a lot through xbox.com. Great feature. I queue up my demos, addons, etc. and they are usually downloaded by the time I get home from work, since the kids are playing.
