Gears of War 2 Patch & New Achievements Soon
So it seems that selling millions of copies doesn’t allow you to forget the “hordes” of fans afterall. Mark Rein and the boys at Epic Games are planning a title update for Gears of War 2 that should address some of the complaints about the game’s online play. January is the target date for the release of this patch.
From Mark Rein, “This update will address bugs and exploits as well as add some new achievements related to downloadable content. We’re fixing a whole bunch of online exploits. For example we’ve fixed the ability to wield an invisible shield, melee through some walls, gain infinite Lancer ammo and equip a shield and a two-handed weapon simultaneously plus many more.
We’re also making several small changes to improve the overall online gameplay experience. A few of the ones that might interest you are; increased penalties for quitting matches early, adding additional spawn protection against planted grenades and chainsaw attacks, and adding the ability to see the Submission flag carrier destination by using Tac/Com.
We know you folks love achievements so on the achievement side we’re adding achievement progress numbers to the War Journal, increasing the frequency of in-game Achievement progression notifications and adding some new Achievements for DLC.
This is just a very small list of some of the things that will be in the next title update but one more item which has been talked about a lot in our forums deserves a special call out…
About that shotgun…
We fixed the client side hit detection on the shotgun so that in a high-latency (i.e. “laggy”) match, the shotgun will be more reliable. We’ve also fixed another bug whereby shotgun and boomshot rounds could strike the ground when firing from the hip.”

i just want the glitches fixed a new rank system and the random “shotgun fire from the hip shoots the ground when aiming at the head.
but the biggest problem i have is when some1 comes at u and revs the saw u can shoot them square in the chest and they are unaffected.
other than that i love this game so much!

It’s stuff like this that makes me realize how great the Xbox community is. Can you imagine your gaming life without Achievements, let alone newly added ones to already-great games?

I can’t wait, easily one of my favorite games right now (Horde mode with friends is enough to keep me interested) I’m glad to see it’s gonna be patched and maybe some of the “hostile’s” will subside and everyone can get back to having a good time and giving Epic some of the credit due for the great game it really is.

I am glad especially the chainsaw I want the shotgun to be more affected I wish epic disables lag switch annnnnnnooooooyyyyyyyiiiiinnnnng wen my match froze for seconds and then one guy killed the whole team so retarded anyways if I was epic they should take away the seriously glitch it’s not fair I barely have 17,000 kills public at least make an achievement like survive 1 round in public or get 10,000 points in king of the hill or something challenging to keep fans entertaining 1 more thing please make the maps for gow2 free I want them badly my whole friends have them plz

enemyhunter411 seriously 2.0 is not for ppl who want gamer points its for hardcore fans who earn it legitimately like i will be doing. and as for the combustible maps there like 9$… with all the work that goes into creating a single multiplayer map let alone 3 as good as them they could charge twice as much reasonably and in a few months when there old and epic has made there profit they will be free. and no “your whole friends” do not have them….

im so happy about this update, the shotgun wont fail anymore and so many people glitch in this game to the the point that its not fun anymore. new achievements too, thats cool. can u tell me when the update is exactly going to happen. Like the actual day. k thanks. =]
