Untouchable of the Year? Yours?
The year is almost over and we all have to decide what we think the Untouchable of the Year was. It’s my own version of the game of the year for those of you unaware. I skipped a beat with it last year but I’m bringing them back to decide which game trumped them all.
I’d like to know what you guys and girls think though. Fallout 3? Dead Space? Gears of War 2? There was a game this year that released that deserves to sit alone on top of the mountain. Which do you think it is? Leave your vote in the poll located above the Shoutbox!

I gotta be honest. I still don’t have Gears 2, or Left 4 Dead… Prince of Persia, or Mirror’s Edge… I played Dead Space, and honestly felt a little disappointed (I haven’t felt the urgency to finish the game that I should). Grand Theft Auto 4 blew everyone away when it launched, but I’m down to about 2 missions left, and don’t even care if I see the end of that long winded roller coaster.
To be honest, I found myself clocking more time on oldies like Blitz: The League (the first one) and Crackdown this year than anything else. Maybe I’m cheap, maybe I’m stubborn, maybe I love gamerscore too much… but I just didn’t experience any single game that was “Untouchable” in 2008.

I was actually greatly dissapointed in Fallout, I never liked Gears much, Dead Space doesn’t appeal to me, and I never got to try Mirrors Edge. I did like GTA and Fable a lot, so it’s gotta be one of those.

gotta vote Other. Battlefield Bad Company has to get my vote. True Dead space is really awesome, but 1 playthrough and you’re done. Dice keeps giving out content and tweaks for battlefield, and the engine on wich the game runs is truly magnificent. sniper in a building ? destroy the building, shoot the sniper. multiplayer on a whole new level.

In my opinion, I think GTA IV was the most anticipated game of the year due to the multiplayer in the game. I even went to Gamestop at midnight for this game and I’ve never done that before! The other game that I could think of was Gears of War 2 (even though it came out later in the year).

GTA IV came out so long ago, and so many great titles have come after it, that I think a lot of people forget how truly amazing it really is. They packed so much into that game, created a living, breathing city, and they improved on pretty much everything in the previous titles, AND even added an extremely fun multiplayer mode. So GTA IV gets my vote, considering how many hours I probably clocked into that game just messing around, with and without friends.
That said, Fallout 3 comes a close second- it definitely proved itself to be (at least a bit) more than just “Oblivion with Guns.” They created a whole world in the ruins of DC and really expanded on the Fallout universe in a positive way. And V.A.T.S. was a huge surprise to me- how well it works, and how much I kept trying to hit RB in other shooters afterwards to see what body parts I could hit
.
Runners Up: Gears 2 was great, but nothing revolutionary, Dead Space was fun (the six or so hours I played it), but I still haven’t finished it yet, and Mirror’s Edge’s gameplay was fresh, but short.

If I have to pick one from that list, I would say Dead Space. However my real pick is Metal Gear Solid 4.

Rock Band 2. GHWT proved it can’t be touched.

you don’t have to pick from this list Kin
my vote would go to PURE lol

Fallout is awesome, seriously amazing but playing Horde with your buddies is what put it over the top for me. Another game that I had an insane (still am) amount of fun with is Burnout: Paradise City. It’s crazy fun also over Live with a group of friends. I can’t beleive it’s almost 09′…time flys.

Well, I thought GoW2 was fine and all, but I didn’t keep replaying it. The MP aspect was also fine, but again I just didn’t feel the love. I still haven’t opened up my copy of Fallout 3, which I suspect will be awesome. GTA IV was just not my “cup of tea” and I generously gave it to a buddy of mine. Dead Space’s demo left me thinking, “Well, that’s 15 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.” The game I have been playing non-stop since I brought it home is Fable 2 and its for that simple reason I voted for it here.
At the end of the day, if you dig something, you dig something. Happy New Year to ALL.

Mirrors Edge

I think I’d have to say Fable 2 or Fallout 3!
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:23 pm
yeah, I think Fallout 3 has to be the Untouchable Game of the Year. The storyline is fantastic and the gameplay is pretty damn good (at least significantly better than Oblivion imo.) I didn’t get GoW 2 since I wasn’t all that impressed with the first…and GTA IV was a bit of a disappointment to me with the glitches, the short-lived ADD mp games and the long-winded emotastic Niko and baby-sitting of “friends.”

well i’ve played gow2, fallout 3, mirror’s edge, world and war and i have to say that they are all brilliant games. Gow 2 campaign was just a bigger version of gow 1, but multiplayer and horde were soo addictive. i’ve already spent like 100 hours on fallout and only discovered half of it, replay value is just great, although the missions can be a little repetitive. mirror’s edge was a beautifully stylized game with great controls and awesame story, though combat was a bit messy. world at war just didn’t impress me. i think they took a step back when creating this and it’s such a poor game, though i do concede that multiplayer is still very fun and zombie mode is awsome.
overall i would give the award the fallout for it’s graphics, gameplay and relpay value
