Halo Wars, Sizzle or Fizzle?
What’s everyone’s take on Halo Wars? To me it seems like the Halo universe is a really good setting for an RTS game so I’m really looking forward to it. Imagine commanding an army of Spartans against an army of Brutes and seeing the battle play out right before your eyes. I’m ready to unleash wave after wave of Scorpion tanks against those dreaded Banshees. The Covenant better get ready for massive pain because my attack & defend strategy will be undeniable and unavoidable.

A playable demo for Halo Wars is supposedly planned for Xbox LIVE sometime before the game releases in February 2009. I hope Ensemble Studios can give us all a proper send off with this game. I’m even considering a pre-order to get that special Warthog with flames on it!
I know there are some huge Halo fans out there that are waiting to see how this shapes up. So after seeing the bits and pieces we’ve seen, do you think it’ll sizzle or fizzle upon release? Have you had enough of the Halo universe or do you want more?

If it’s anything like Starcraft/WC3/C&C then, rock on! I’d give it a spin, at least demo it.

It’ll be my first trip into RTS land so I hope it’s a good one.

Sizzle! The only thing better than 1 warhog charging a wave of Covenant scum is 10 warthogs charging a wave of Covenant scum!

it has massive potential. but i hope ensemble doesn’t fuck up. because this game can crash down really hard because of the expectations.
but knowing ensemble its going to be sizzle.
i’d bet some nickels on that.

I’m interested because its Halo Wars, but RTS games do not have a great success rate on consoles. Being a part of the Halo franchise will help it sell, but I still doubt it will appeal to the masses.

Sizzle! But the real question is, how much will getting part of the Mythic Map Pack early help LE sales?

Well, I’m a big Halo fan, having played the games and read the books (currently reading The Cole Protocol). However, I’m not too pumped for this game. The brilliance of the Halo series, like any good FPS is that one gets to be the character. It’s great being the Chief and kicking the crap out stuff in a very Herculean way. I just don’t see myself enjoying being the coach on the sideline. I’d rather be taking the snaps.

I’m looking forward to playing it but I’m not going to pre-order or anything. I’ll probably pick it up used a few weeks after release.

I’m really looking forward to this, being a fan of anything Halo. I will be pre-ordering the special edition, if it becomes available in the UK (and the extras don’t disappear like Fable II’s did). More than anything I just want this to be FUN, like the Red Alert series of C&C. For example I’d be happier with laughing at the interaction between the races (like funny dialogue/taunts, trademark attacks), than an attempt at some serious story. I’d say it’ll sizzle for sure
