Sonic Unleashed, Werehog Is Born
I won’t lie to you. I’ve been wanting or rather needing a good Sonic game on the Xbox 360. I grew up with the blue-haired speedster and I’ve yet to find an updated Sonic adventure that has satisfied me. Sonic Team and SEGA look to finally deliver a Sonic that is worthy of next-generation status in Sonic Unleashed.

Powered by the all-new “Hedgehog Engine,” Sonic Unleashed merges classic Sonic gameplay with the latest in next-generation innovation. It’s filled with classic 2D/3D gameplay and incredibly fast daytime action. And when I say fast, I mean FAST. This little hedgehog should be glad that there are no speeding tickets in Sonic land. Sonic has a series of new moves that make him even faster including the Sonic Drift (to corner quickly without losing speed), Ring Energy (faster speeds brings more ring energy), QuickStep (to move side to side without losing momentum), and Sonic Boost (uses Ring Energy to give Sonic a speed boost)-each move allows Sonic to reach unparalleled high speeds.
Sonic Unleashed also introduces the Werehog, Sonic’s dark alter ego who comes out when the moon shines bright. Within the nighttime levels, players can take advantage of the Werehog’s strong and flexible arms to fight tough enemies using his powerful punch and crazy combat moves. Gamers can also use the Werehog’s stretchy abilities to climb and swing reaching all new heights in the game.
Perhaps this is the game that brings Sonic back to platformer greatness.

Hope it is indeed the game we all Sonic fans are waiting, my friend. Since Adventures 2, nothing has been worthy to follow-up the mantle of the blue lightning.

Poor Sonic, doesn’t look that great to me. The whole Werehog looks very gimmicky to me.

he looks super fast. and Sonic has always had quirky characters (at least the recent adventures) i don’t mind the Werehog at all.

the platforming part with sonic himself looks really nice, but the werehog fighting parts seemed tacked on

From what I hear the game is about 60% werehog, and the werehog parts are like playing an even worse version of Dynasty Warriors. I wanted this to be the rebirth of Sonic but there isn’t even enough original sonic gameplay (albeit with a twist) to make it a true Sonic game. Just because Sonic is in a game doesn’t mean that it hearkens back to the original Somic games.

My first video game was Sonic 1 and sonic has been one of my favorite video game/animated heroes. I missed this show for so long, I had no way of watching it since it was either Youtubes poor quality or nothing. The show holds up after all these years, and really show’s how Sonic was in the Genesis era. They don’t make show’s like this anymore. 5 stars
