Avatar Store Coming?
Raise your hand if you didn’t see this coming? Word on the interweb is that Microsoft is set to debut an Avatar Store next Spring to go along with the new Xbox experience and its Avatar system. Reports from an EMEA Product Manager within Microsoft suggest that a store is forthcoming that will allow will gamers to buy branded items for their Avatars.
This includes fashionable items, sporting items and all kinds of things you could use to dress up your Avatar. They’re also planning to include in-game accessories that are unlocked by playing through a particular game. This feature is said to be up to the developers. There is also talk about new animations and expressions being up for grabs as well.
No price has been set on items within the store. And there is no set date for the launch of the Avatar Store. What say you?

I like the concept of unlocking stuff for the Avatar in games that is cool.

Here’s hoping not… or, if so, that products for your avatars are a pittance of a fee – 20MSPoints or less, per item. Low prices, volume sales. I hope they got that route. I haven’t paid for a theme yet, and the only picture packs I downloaded have been the U360 ones. I certainly won’t “pay to play dress up.”
I think there will be enough customization immediately available (as seen in my latest blog post – with more updates to come on that article!) to suite my tastes.

Well, they copied the asian model indeed for customizing your character, or in this case, your avatar.
I wonder if we will see the Dragonball Z wear that our friend Deacon will look so much for (and pay for it!!!).

Interesting, I think it would be cool if the shirt my Avatar has is the game I’m playing.

I completely agree. Though I would much prefer to just get free unlockable content from games, I would seriously consider buying worthy quality items and expressions – if they were at a fair price like that.

I don’t know what I think about this yet. I’m going to have to wait on the Update before I make up my mind. Still interesting, I’m sure it will end up being a smart decision by Microsoft.
