Fall Dashboard Update, Nov 19
The Tokyo Game Show kicked off last night with plenty of interesting news. Some of it was no surprise (Halo 3 Recon episode) while other news on the official release for the new Dashboard update was unexpected. It was the most interesting of the announcements coming out of the Tokyo Game Show and I’m sure the most anticipated.
On November 19th, we’ll all be able to see for ourselves just how new this “new Xbox experience” really is. Here’s a recap of some of the features for those of you still not in the know about what to expect on this day.
- Play from the hard drive. Option to copy games to play directly from the hard drive. Yes you will need the game disc even then.
- Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace from the web. Browse and purchase content from Xbox.com. (my most anticipated feature)
- LIVE party system. You can have a private party of up to 8 friends watching movies together, playing games etc.
- Avatars, Xbox LIVE Primetime & new display support. (16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440×900 or 1680×1050)

I am stoked to be a 360 owner right now. The new dash looks awesome, Halo Recon; gonna be sweet and the only other reason besides Little Big Planet for having a PS3 has just headed to the 360:
“Confirming a rumor that was hinted at long ago, Microsoft has just announced that another famed Namco Bandai fighter is hitting the Xbox 360. Landing in Fall 2009, Tekken 6 will find life on the Xbox 360.”

I hope they can keep Live up that day as everyone tries to download it. I’m looking forward to trying it out.

I totally forgot about the 16×10 support, which I’m glad to hear. I hope the PS3 does this soon. My 24″ monitor is 1900×1200, so when I watch blu-ray movies everything is subtly narrower. Can’t wait for that, and the Netflix streaming too (I’m a subscriber to it).

I am so happy i habe a 360!! and does any1 know if we are gonna play as MC or the new ODST from the Recon video in Halo 3 Recon? because it said “new hero”?

With regards to the Halo 3: Recon prologue game due out next Fall, I was a bit worried with the idea of playing a Halo game and never playing as MC. Like most Xbox players, I am a huge Halo fan and still remember where I was when I picked up each copy. The excitement I have felt playing through all campaigns is beyond measure. All concerns and fears were blown away when I watched the trailer for the game. Seeing the game, hearing the music and watching those Covenant bastards walk through decimated New Mambasa was enough for me. Give me an ODST, a reincarnated Commander Keyes, or any Jarhead to utilize and I’ll be happy. Just give me more HALO!!!
