Ultra Limited Edition & Exclusive Suits
We fly high, no lie, you know it. BALLIN! That song seems so fitting as EA unloads news about the $150 Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition available for pre-order. I wish that was a misprint but it’s true. If you have the necessary dough, you’ll at least get some cool stuff.

The Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition comes with:
* The Dead Space game
* Special Ultra Limited Edition packaging
* Dead Space Downfall Animated Movie (DVD)
* Bonus content DVD
* Exclusive custom lithograph art illustrated and signed by Ben Templesmith
* 97-pg Dead Space art book written and illustrated by the development team
* 160-pg Graphic novel
* Ishimura crew patch
The good news though is that if you can’t afford this, you can try your hand at winning it. If you take the Aptitude Test on www.noknownsurvivors.com you’ll have a chance to win a ULE. EA is giving away 10 of them. You even get $5 off just by signing up to explore the world of Dead Space. The grand prize winner even gets a replica of Isaac Clarke’s helmet!
One other thing about Dead Space is that those of you who purchase it at launch will get an exclusive in-game suit. You have to visit the Xbox LIVE Marketplace within two weeks of the game’s release in order to download the Xbox-themed Elite suit. (there’s even one available for PS3 owners exclusive to the PS3) Both suits will have advantages over the standard in-game armor, providing increased inventory slots and tougher protection against spikes, tentacles, and other space-monster weapons.

I’ll check the game out if I can find it used for a good price, but who in their right mind would pay that kind of loot for a game? I recognize the awesomeness of the attached extras, but wow, just wow… are we buying video games or are we buying comic books, art prints and patches?! c’mon!!

The price for the LE might not be as bad as anyone would imagine, Considering lately the LE/CE scene has the consumer paying +$10-$20 above regular price for a bonus CD/DVD or special packageing (metal box). Although there where a few CE’s that realy did show there value (BioShock), below is an estimated value of each item in the DS LE.
The Dead Space game -$59.99
Special Ultra Limited Edition packaging - Estimate $10
Dead Space Downfall Animated Movie (DVD) - retail $26.99 (although stores may have it on sale such as Best Buy for $14.99 on release day)
Bonus content DVD - If standard format of CE’s are followed (behind the scenes vids, trailers) $10
Exclusive custom lithograph art illustrated and signed by Ben Templesmith - This one is tricky, I used to run a comic store for 2+ years, Autographed Lithographs are hard to estimate value. Primaraly due to the Artist Him/Herself, project history, and subject content. Currently some of his prints can be found on CafePress for $14.99 and up. So lets use the lowest price for the estimation -$14.99
97-pg Dead Space art book written and illustrated by the development team $0.00-$5.00 (Same artbook you would get if preordering though retail store, Can be picked up at Best Buy for $5)
160-pg Graphic novel Price for TPB’s can range from $19.99 to $24.99 (or higher depending on content). So lets use $19.99
Ishimura crew patch - I would probrobly put this around the $5-10, but considering I never delt with collectable patches before.. this estimate can possibly be considered conservitive.
So the estimated total = 114.97.. Not that far off but also considering that unlike traditional LE’s with a virtual unknown print run, The Dead Space LE is limited to only 1,000 copies. If thats worth the extra $25.03 Then the CE might prove it’s worth.
As for the NoKnownSurvivors.com site, I’m currently ranked 50th on the leaderboard (been playing since day 1). If anybody needs help on the aptitude tests just let me know (Still working on the answer for Chap 1-3 Question #8).
