Showcase – Catalina DSO
It’s time for another favorite feature of yours…the Showcase. On the table for devouring this time is a triple threat in the community; GamerchiX member, clan leader and Xbox Ambassador. Take it all in and enjoy!
Can you give the world a glimpse of the lady behind the Gamertag?
I’m a 47 year old Wife and Mother of three. I have two sons, 22 and 18 and a daughter, 16. Before I had children I graduated College with a BBA in Accounting and an Associate in Management. I worked for an Accounting firm up until I had my first child. At that point I made the decision to become a stay at home Mom. I’ve LOVED it.
While being a stay at home Mom I also had my own Tax Preparation business for 26 years but retired from that 3 years ago. Now my husband and all three of our children are members of DSO, so I’m part of a gaming family.
Tell us how you chose your Gamertag, Catalina DSO.
My first gamertag was passed on to me from my son. He wanted a new tag and up until then we had all been using the one, Coronos Dominus. I used that one for several months but I wanted one that was more feminine sounding and pretty. So I chose the same name I used in my High School Spanish class. We had to use Spanish names and that one is close to my real name, Cathy. The DSO is of course to represent the clan.
You’re one of the CO-Founders of the DSO Clan. Can you tell us what was the inspiration for forming the DSO Clan and what does DSO stand for?
DSO stands for Delta Special Ops. We started this clan in order to have a home, for female and male gamers, which represented what we believed gaming should entail. We believe that you can play and still retain your honor and integrity. We have some strict rules that members have to agree to abide by before they can even begin recruiting with us. Our members have told us that this is the type of gaming family they have been looking for.
With gamers always in search of clans, can you share with us/them what the experience of being in a clan has been like for you?
Being in a clan, especially this clan has been and is like having an extension to my family. The ladies and gentlemen that are my clanmates are my gaming family. We support one another. Being here, with my clanmates, has been some of the best times I have ever had. Several of them call me Mama Cat. lol
Not only are you a DSO Clan Leader, you are also an Xbox Ambassador and an Xbox Gamerchix have these experiences been a good one or bad one for you?
I have to say they’ve been good. I love the GamerchiX. Getting to interact with ladies from all over the world has been wonderful. You get to see that ladies everywhere go through the same things no matter where in the world they are. Whether you have problems in game or in your real life they’re there to encourage and lift you up and I love that.

Being an Xbox Ambassador has been a good experience as well. I’ve learned a lot from the other Ambassadors and how they handle situations and questions. I like to help people and I’ve been able to carry that over in other areas and forums. I don’t mind receiving messages from gamers about things they don’t understand because I was a new gamer once too and I needed help. I don’t always know the answer but I do my best to find the answers or find someone who does know.
With that being said, what is the craziest/funniest thing you have heard on Xbox Live?
Well there has been plenty. Recently while gaming in Halo 3 I was asked how old I was so I told the guys, and at the end of the game one of them told me I was old enough to be his next girlfriend.
If you had a chance to be a character from any of the games ever made, who would it be?
Oh my, that’s a difficult one. I really don’t have any one character that I like above the others. I like different ones for various reasons. If I could take the characteristics from the different characters and make a new one that would be awesome.
Do you play for Gamerscore or Achievements?
While I love earning achievements and a decent gamerscore would be nice, I can’t say that I play for them. I play because I love gaming with the people online. For the most part, they make it fun and interesting. I don’t know that I would game as much if I couldn’t play online. I have a friends list and a clan full of people that I love gaming with and just about everyday I meet more gamers that make it fun.
Ok time for a tough question, if Master Chief and Marcus Fenix got into a knockdown, drag out, hardcore fight, who do you think would win?
That is a tough question. They’re both tough guys. I guess whichever one got tired first. I think it would be a very long fight and I honestly don’t know who would win. It could be either one.
Ok. One game. One shot. Who are you playing, what game are you playing, who wins and why?
I would have to say I would be playing against my good friend neda, we’re playing Halo 3 and I win because he usually beats me at everything else, but I can beat him (sometimes lol) in Halo.
Any parting words?
I want to thank you for asking me to be showcased. It really is an honor. I hope you and your readers will come by our website and hang out with us. http://www.dsoclan.com.

Mama Sanders, I respect you indefinitely. There’s just an added kick to being able to say, “Yeah man, you just got owned by my friend’s mom.” lol! Actually, you’re not just my friend’s mom, you are my friend. I appreciate all the times you let us crazy guys hang out at your place and play XBOX and Magic, haha. Oh, the good ol’ days. Congratulations on all the achievement you have attained and good luck in the future of your own path and that of the DSO clan.
Respectfully,
M.A.W.
