Fallout 3, Prepare for the Future!

Bethesda Softworks just sent a media blast about the launch of the full version of PrepareForTheFuture.com.  There are a variety of videos and gameplay clips for you to literally select on the tube and watch.  It’s an interesting website to say the least.  You gotta love the artistic style surrounding Fallout 3.

Prepare For The Future

Those of you who enjoyed the feel of BioShock should love this latest effort from Fallout 3 even more.  I’m watching this title to see if Bethesda can mirror the success of its Elder Scrolls series with that of Fallout 3.  Who’s picking this puppy up?

i was really hyped for this game, until i saw the 5 vids that are on the marketplace.
this is to much oblivion for me to be exciting.
dont get me wrong, i LOVED oblivion and i’ve spent about 200 hours into it, and about 300 into morrowind.
but this is just a remake of oblivion with another skin.
i’m waiting for a demo or a (really low) budget price.

I will be playing Fable 2 first but as soon as I can pull myself away from that I’ll be moving on to this. Also I think the game has plenty of character, enough that I definitely feel that lawlhalla is giving it an unfair rap.

i dont know intagible. i might have set my expectations too high since it came from bethesda. but after i saw the video’s i saw too much oblivion into it.
the Stats/items/abilities/lockpicking/character equipment/bad physics/weird walk animations/same stupid ai that keeps running at you (if they’re melee enemies/pickpocketing/voice actors/chat system. hell even the start of the game is the same as oblivion.
you escape from somewhere, come to the last door, and there you pick your looks.

there are enough other games coming out these last months.
and i’m not rich. so i have to make choices.

sure i can have a LOT of fun with this game, but it’d be the same fun i had as with oblivion (for a big part of the game). bethesda is good at making immersive and fun games. but i’d get it for a budget i think. i believed in a totally new project.
and so far, the only thing i saw (yes i followed the game pretty closely) was another setting. it’s not enough. might have been a few months ago, but not with these game loaded last months.

This is my sleeper surprise. I’m wanting it, but have to see what I can do to get the funds for it. Have Power of 360 stuff to take care of first. After buying the limited version of Fable II to give away and finding away to buy my own copy, makes it tough to get other games.

I’ve already preordered the Survival edition from Amazon so I’m good to go.

@ Mike, even though there isn’t a lot of replay value in Oblivion (well I say that but I played it more than once on both the 360 and PC). Anyway I understand how people could feel that way, but even then the amount of time you get out of a single play through is more than most people spend on most games.

Geez from the sounds of it no one has even made a comment of the fact its based off the fallout series which is known to be one of the best RPGs made of its time. And something is a little unnerving of the part, “If you like the feel of Bioshock you’ll like Fallout 3″. What? Bioshock is years too late for the retro feel that Fallout had already placed in hearts of many back in 1997. So to see Bethesda actually taking the franchise does give a lot of mixed feelings with everyone in the fallout community because most of us don’t want Oblivion! Sorry folks but I never cared for the game haha. Anyways from remembering Oblivion and then seeing Fallout 3 I dont see any similarities other than being on the same engine. Well Fallout 3 has been tweeked and its set towards a retro fitted future and not riding horses to save a princess.

If you look at past game I will say bethesda though having me and thousands of other loyal fans on edge I think they did very well with listening to us, the true fans, the ones that know the fallout universe by heart. To see the gritty dark style and enough bloody mess and cussing to make a mad man cry, lets me know they done something right! To know that even if you are lets say a “good guy” you will be pitted with choices that not matter how you look at it, someone is going to die. Just like the classics! To see such does bring a tear to my eye and I do think the great Tim Cain and the original team themselves though as hard as it was to see their baby go to another atleast to see its in good hands.

I have already pre-ordered the Survival Edition some time ago cause heck when you been waiting 11 years you kinda get antsy.
