Fringe, The New “X”
Last night was the season debut of Fringe on FOX and I was very pleased with the show. It is what I’ve been waiting for after all these years without an X-Files replacement. The mysterious, the unknown, the weird and the unexplainable are all back in Fringe. I’ve found a new show to watch on Tuesdays. The debut was about a strange virus made to kill people by breaking down their cellular structure and let me tell you it was crazy! And they set up what I’m sure will be the evil corporation in Massive Dynamics.
The next round of episodes seem to be even better than the debut with the kinds of freaky subjects that hooked so many people on the X-Files. Bring on the baby having episode! It has a very good cast with a strong lead character in FBI Special Agent, Olivia Dunham. It’s a nice twist to have a woman FBI agent being the focal point of the show. Dr. Bishop and his son Peter are the perfect match for her character. FBI agents, conspiracies, weird doctors, boy genius and evil corporations make Fringe the new “it” on Tuesdays. What more could a sci-fi fanatic want?
I especially loved the “Fringe will return in 90 seconds” bit that FOX used. I know they won’t do that throughout the season but it was a lot of fun running to the kitchen timing myself each time when I had something to do at the commerical break. And how cool was it seeing the different locations of the show displayed in bold letters? Nice touch.

I like seeing Lance Reddick as Phillip Broyles in this show and loved him in the Wire and when he turned up in Lost. Cool to see him last night. This shows is killer and reminds me a lot of Alias with a X-Files twist. If you missed last nights show, then tune in on Sunday an catch the repeat. You’ll be hooked I think.

Hey Deac,
Weird how i only seem to get emails sporadically, but i got this one. I DVR’d ( the greatest invention ever by the way) the episode last night and I just watched it today. I thought it was pretty good. It def. go me curious enough to make a series recording so i won’t miss an episode, but i’ve learned to not get attached to programs anymore bc the last couple ones i’ve liked have gotten cancelled. “Traveler” and “Black Donnelys” etc…
And sometimes they try to incorporate too many other story lines that make it a pain to watch. ex…Who the heck cares about what the wives are doing in the UNIT, just show me some special forces action. And PLEASE no constant flashbacks. I know it’s the Hollywood trend right now (Lost,Heroes, among others) but it gets annoying.
So good start so far, stay with the sci-fi storyline, and don’t get bogged down in personal stories, or sub-plots and i think we got a winnner. I just hope the rest of the Neilson family thinks so, or i’ll see you on the torrent sites trying to download unreleased and past episodes. Like “Special Agent #2), and (JOEY).

like the premise of the show so far…basing it on ’60s science and stuff like that. but whoever chooses the music chooses the wrong music at the wrong time…

I had higher expectations, but it was only the first episode. I still enjoyed it, but was hoping for a little more. I definitely think it has potential to be a great show and will continue to watch it.

I was very impressed with this show. I saw a commercial for it last week and really didn’t expect much, but took a chance on it and set a recording for it on my DVR.
Man I was blown away and glued to the set for the entire show. This show looks like it has so much potential with the directions the show can go into with so types of crazy theoretical science type stuff they can dive into.
