Gears of War Social?
Facebook. MySpace. Twitter. Sure you’ve all probably heard of these particular social networking sites but are you a part of the Gears of War social? If you’re a Hollywood geek, then that answer is yes. The LA Times wrote a story about Gears of War being used as a social networking tool.  I thought this was both weird and interesting at the same time to see the appeal of video games across Xbox LIVE and the social aspect of it.

“It’s a great arena to meet people I wouldn’t have otherwise,” said Zach Schiff-Abrams, producer with Michael DeLuca Productions.Â
I know I’ve met quite a few good friends on various games so this isn’t a surprise to me. How about everyone else? Are you using your favorite game to network?

my first online experience was with Gears or War 1. And i must say, it was also one of the best. The people there were mad crazy in the fun sort of way, and 6 minutes after i arrived we were singing the spider man song with all of the 8 players in the game, whilst shooting each others limbs off.

My Gears experience actually started out horribly. Everyone was screaming obscenities, and there was absolutely no respect for the other gamers.

Funny as crap and there was only one thing missing from the article/picture…..a GAMERCHICK!
Nothing like furthering the nerd/geekdom of gaming like having four dudes staying into space in sugared-up wonderment, eh?
Note: for the record…I’d look the same way, so let’s make sure to include a gaming female or two in there to offset the nerd-factor!!!!

I don’t use XBox Live to network intentionally, but it has become that way. And Facebook, etc. doesn’t appeal to me…
