Rating Guide: How I Review Games

God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) is one of the best experiences I’ve had with an action adventure game!  Most of you should know that I rejoiced when I was able to get a PSP again and after playing God of War, that joy was multiplied by levels of awesomeness that I can’t explain.  Was I playing the greatest game on the PSP?  Truth be told, I don’t know because I haven’t played many games on the PSP.  But let me tell you, this game was great.

God of War

I love my PSP.  Yes I do.  I ride the train each day and sneak in some God of War during the ride.  I’ve nearly missed my stop because of being so into the action.  I haven’t played the console versions of God of War but if the PSP version is any indictator, then I can understand how some are so into this series.  Chains of Olympus is the prequel to the console versions.  Kratos, the Spartan.  Battles against the Persians, Medusa creatures etc.  The Blades of Chaos dealt so much carnage it wasn’t even funny.  The system in which you level-up your weapon and magic was also impressive.  You had to collect enough red orbs to level-up and press the X button to fill the skull with the blood from the orbs.  (or at least that’s what I call it)

The best part about the battles in the game is when the circle button pops up over an enemy’s head prompting you to engage in a series of actions to “finish them off”.  I ripped many Medusa heads off and tore through countless numbers of “bat things”.  It was a bonafied rush every time I did it.

The game looked and played great.  The animations, the environments and the weapon system were all surprisingly crisp for a handheld system.  After realizing how great this game was, I couldn’t help but say to myself that I’d buy a PlayStation 3 just to play God of War 3.  I thought there would never be a single game that would get me to even consider buying a console for but color me sold after playing God of War PSP.

I became The Ghost of Sparta each time I played the game.  I told you I’d be spreading a little PSP love and so feel the awesomeness of God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP.
