Box of Points Giveaway, Point Tales
Ok, I have a huge box full of Microsoft Points. My friends at Disruptive Publishers sent me 8000 Microsoft Points. Yes, that’s five 1600 Microsoft Points cards. I’ve stared at the box for a while now trying to figure out the best way to dish them out to my fine friends here at U360. I decided that I would just keep them myself instead of giving them to you. (just kidding)

I thought about the Summer of Arcade this month and figured I would keep this thing simple especially considering the price point on some of these XBLA games being released this month. So, in order to win simply tell me which XBLA game (of the ones being released this month) is your choice to purchase and why. Point Tales. That’s it. If you choose to use the points on one of these games, I’d like to know which one and why.
Want to storm the Castle? Tell me why. Want to go Bionic? Tell me why. I’ll reward five of you with the golden ticket to 1600 Microsoft Points. When the Summer of Arcade ends, winners will be announced and coded up. As usual, if you’re not around to claim your prize then I’ll pick someone else. The day of announcement is August 27th so get to it. Let’s hear those tales (reasons).

I would like castle crashers, as I need to crash the castle. I missed my calling by not living in the past and I need to at least live out my dreams through this game.

Since I enjoy solving puzzles at heart, Braid gets my pick. I really like how Braid pays tribute to nostalgia, with a tried-and-true story-line (i.e., knight [in shining armor] saving his damsel in distress) and as a “back in tha’ day” platformer; yet is still refreshing in its art style, setting(s), gameplay (i.e., manipulation of time, “consistent” unique puzzles), and music.

I would use the points on Braid just because of its originality. I love platform games and puzzle games and its basically a combination. And it even has a pretty cool story in it.

Either Braid or Bionic Commando. Braid because of it’s originality, yet high price, and Bionic Commando because of the classic fun, yet standard 800 points. Plus I’m cheap

I’m either going to use them to buy Castle Crashers or use some of the points to buy my brother Braid. These are two amazing games (I already own Braid) and I’d like to share with him. He can use the 1200 MSP and I’ll keep the remaining 400 for my own copy of Castle Crashers!

P.S. I hope this doesn’t count against me as a double post, but if you haven’t tried Braid, and you like puzzle/platform games, download it. It’s brilliant.

I have been planning for a while on spending more points in the Xbox Live Arcade than on Retail games… Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been calling my name for months - and then they announce Duke Nuk’em 3D? I can’t wait to see if they update the graphics to the game!
So deciding what to do if I had an “extra” 1,600 points was a bit tough. I’ve been saving my points up for so long, waiting for specific games… what if I could buy something I wasn’t originally planning on? I decided to go on a journey before making my entry into the Point Tales contest… enjoy.
I walked down a dark street late at night, into the projects. There it stood, one building, with five separate wings, all clustered together, like they were trying to take shelter from the blizzard outside.
I walked into the first corridor and the colors came alive! Neon lights, geometric shapes and patterns splashed the walls. The array was so bright it was amazing, but the constant action left me in a state of dismay - almost intimidated. I ran out of the wing and into the next area.
This place was more peaceful. Soft music played, and even though demon-rabbits sat in the corner, I was able to ignore them long enough to see the brilliant colors in the painting hanging on the wall. I purchased this piece for $15.00 - some called me crazy, but I saw the value in it.
I then proceeded to the third wing, but was immediately greeted by a clean shaven Hitler look-a-like, shouting at me in a made up language. Then a Red Headed Tom Cruise handed me a grappling hook and said: “This could be complicated. You know on the first one I crashed and burned.” Confused, I accepted the offer, but ended up stuck on the ceiling for several minutes. I left as quickly as possible.
Next I entered an area that was familiar, but strangely different. I had heard the sounds before, seen the images before me… but this time it was like I had to be in three places at once, just to understand what was happening. I felt too disconnected and had to escape!
Finally I ended up in a dark area. I expected legions of enemies to test my abilities to defend a tower - but as I stood back and watched, I realized that this was nothing like those tower defense tests of the past… this looked enjoyable! And though much of the palette was gray, it had splashes of color, reminiscent of my childhood watching the “Centuirons” cartoon! This was it! This castle was where I was destined to crash for several weeks!
…The End…

I would either get Castle Crashers, Duke Nukem, or hold out and wait until Street Figther II Super HD Remix comes out. I have purchased so many games already, it would be kind of nice if I can get some of these games for free.
