I don’t have to work tomorrow. I think I’m going to throw an NES ROM of the original game onto my old Xbox tonight. I remember passing this game up as a kid. Gonna have to give it a try and see if I like the original, then try the demo tomorrow!

I remember playing the standup arcade game in 1987 just after I got out of bootcamp. What’s interesting is how the storyline changed with Super Joe being the hero in the standup and being rescued in the NES version. Also, the Japanese version had swastikas in the background of the bad guy, while the American version had eagle-like logos.
Finally, a great trivia question to ask your friends is what is the first shooter console game, with a human character, in which you couldn’t jump to get from place to place (ie, bridge spans, etc) The answer: Bionic Commando, since you had to use your bionic arm to do this.

This game has been nicely retooled by Capcom, there will be an entirely new final boss, those of you who played the OG may remember how easy the final boss was. This has been fixed, and looks like the updates will provide TONs O’ FUNS!
