New Xbox Experience Details

Major Nelson and E shared a lot of new details during their latest show about the new experience coming to Xbox. This is releasing before the year is up so no worries. I grabbed some of the things that I was interested in to share.

Look at me, Im an Avatar

Play from hard drive

- Installing games to hard drive will be optional, not required
- Works with all games new & old library
- Special use with multi-disc games

Live Party System

- Party created from Dashboard, no game necessary
- Voice chat across different games or movies while in party
- Works across all games both new & old library

Avatars

- Not mandatory
- Can use Gamerpics instead if you choose
- Developers can opt to include Avatar unlockables in their game

Xbox.com Marketplace

- RSS feed on Xbox.com will be up-to-date with everything in Marketplace

New Guide w/Blades

- Detects the game you’re playing to give you a game specific Marketplace breakdown
- Has all functionality of the current Dashboard Blades system

Netflix

- Must have Netflix subscription $8.99 or above ($4.99 subscription will not work)
- Instantly updates your Xbox 360 Netflix Dash with Netflix queue choices
- Will not currently support in HD

Lips

- Motion sensitive microphones (comes with 2)
- Zune & iPod compatible with only non-DRM music

Also to stream HD across the network, that would require alot of bandwidth.

^ You do realize that Microsoft offers HD 1080i movie content on Marketplace, don’t you?

No I didn’t thanks for clearing that up… Just joking.

But seriously, download and stream are two different things.
To download a HD movie, it roughly takes 5-8 hours, so to be able to stream HD that would requite a very high speed connection and alot of bandwidth.

I like avatars and the community movie thingy. That should be pretty sweet…arranging a movie night with your Live Friends and real friends.

lawlhalla : i still need to get like 70 hidden orbs. 4 agility orbs, was busy working on all the stunt rings, but lost my count where i was lol. and still have to do 1/5 subachievements of Rampage, and the stockpile minigame achievement. but those last 2 are easy.
lawlhalla : i got 1100 van 1250 gs for crackdown.
Pilex : body juggler would probably make my top ten for coolest achievements
Pilex : no way hidden orb chievo is only worth 5
Pilex : it says i have 44 of 50 chievos for 970, i gotta have the extra chieves

Pilex : if prototype is like crackdown with large coop, it'd be the shit, you see that screeny irish?
Pilex : yeah mine got reset i was ticked running right through all the gangs straight to the bosses and rocket smashing them

Pilex : yup the one I am talking about is 7, she's my gamer, same basic stuff but I make her get me gamerscore while she's jumpin around

Pilex : yeah only 2
Pilex : nah, my daughter like hunting orbs
DeaconBlade : you can do only 2 co-op right?
DeaconBlade : well i feel noobish lol
Pilex : i need to commandeer 100 gang controlled vehicles, it would be really cool with 4 or 5 coop on that game
Pilex : i got the agility orbs, i need hidden orbs
DeaconBlade : i think i have a little over a hundred agility orbs to get
Pilex : i know i have stuff i can do, my daughter loves that game, wouldn't let me trade it in
Pilex : yup, i'll have to compare our gs
