EA extends Take Two bid, Ultimate Madden?

Borg assimilation continues.  Resistance is futile.  Electronic Arts as again extended its $2 billion takeover offer to acquire Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. this week.  Thanks for the tip HeadGeek.

Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said in a statement, “The latest extension of EA’s unsolicited, highly conditional tender offer does not alter the fact that their proposal still significantly undervalues Take-Two, a fact that is reflected in the overwhelming number of stockholders who still have not tendered their shares.”

EA

Someone has a case of the big head it seems as the effect of Grand Theft Auto IV is surely to wear thin and their stock will surely continue its stumble (as it did as of Tuesday).  The last time I checked $2 billion was a lot of money and probably more than Take-Two will be worth once the “next big thing” has released and no one remembers Grand Theft Auto IV.

Lost in the shuffle perhaps is the fact that Take-Two houses 2K Sports.  If this offer were approved then EA would all but wipe out any sports competition.  Some of you may see that as a bad thing but I don’t necessarily.  Think about the mixture of minds that this deal would hopefully create.  Think about Madden being developed by the minds at 2K Sports and EA both.  Touchdown!  Get your popcorn ready!  That would be a killer NFL game finally…the Ultimate Madden NFL 2010.

Woow. Ultimate Madden 2010! I haven’t picked up a Madden game since 2006. They’ve been repetitive and just boring to me. (I’m a soccer fan). If Take Two gets in on this Madden action. I’m probably get back into this franchise.

I’m with Dragon on this one. Besides I don’t want Midnight Club mix with Burnout or Need For Speed mash up game or a softer GTA. Give it up EA!!! I dock ya 5.000 cool points.

This is the worst thing to happen to sports gaming…EA will undoubtedly destroy the franchises owned by 2K Sports…

I for one hope this does not happen. Take Two has some very talented people working for them, EA is too much of a commercial machine for me to appreciate fully. They make some good games but their descisions scare me sometimes, along with their lack of game support. Say what you want but I lost it with EA when they reset the leader boards on for a community event “AFTER” a long weekend event from MS. I had close to 1000 kills in one weekend and leveled quite a few weapons. Then it was all gone one sunny afternoon when a bad descision was made. I think they tend to cheapen the experience some and not usually on your wallet. I was glad that they backed out of the idea to make you pay for weapons on BF2. The problem with that if it wasn’t for community uproar it would have happened. Take away the competition and they can do whatever they want. It might make the sports genre better will all the fresh ideas but if it doesn’t there’s no going back.
