NPD Sales May 2008
Because I know you all like numbers so much, here are the latest NPD sales for hardware and software for May. I shall make no ill statements concerning the Nintendo Wii. I’ll just accept the fact that it is a monster and there are apparently a lot of gamers interested in getting fit.

And as one potentially great analyst predicted, the PlayStation 3 did indeed see more immediate hardware results from the release of Grand Theft Auto IV. Will more of my predictions prove true?

You heard it all from me first Deac… & it’s not because of GTA4 (It sold more on the 360 during the month) = It’s because the 360 hasn’t had a proper PRICE DROP ever & the PS3 looks better to most consumers because of Blu-Ray for only $50 more when you compare the price of the 40GB PS3 to the PRO 20GB 360
The Ps3 will continue to trounce the 360 (MGS4 Bundle + Blu-Ray) every single month until the 360 gets the $100 price drop it needs. Microsoft also should have thought of getting a Blu-Ray add-on out as soon as HD-DVD failed to thwart many 360 owners from ever getting a Ps3 & eventually buying games for it over the 360.
Microsoft made many mistakes & I (ME) warned them before anyone ever did.

One other thing - The highly known 360 RRoD also scares away many potential 360 buyers = Microsoft should have fixed this a very long time ago.

yep true on the price drop Mike. i predicted one coming
June 13th, 2008 at 9:28 am
lol Deac… Isn’t that ^ inevitable?
Also, The Wal-Mart ($100 Gift Card) Ps3 Deal is going to show the Ps3 crushing 360 sales for the month of June.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Hmmm, is Wal-Mart even considered in the NPD?
June 13th, 2008 at 9:57 am
i don’t think Wal-Mart is.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:58 am
and yeah it is inevitable. but someone still has to predict it lol

Price cut announced at E3. Mark my words.
June 13th, 2008 at 11:02 am
pretty pitiful numbers for the 360, even with the install base …Mike is right, the console needs a price drop NOW, not over holiday … and no, Wal-Mart’s sales are NOT reflected in the monthly NPD’s …
June 13th, 2008 at 11:11 am
If no price drop the 360 will be in serious trouble maybe a 50.00 cut but 100.00 would make a huge difference.

Wow look at all those Wii software titles, 5 out of 10 and GTAiv the only 360 title.

your a genius Deac, no way else to put it
June 13th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Wii just had a good month but they need more games.
June 13th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
My problem with the Wii? Not enough games utilizing the controls. My brother has the Wii. Really, there’s only so many times I can play Wii Sports. Metroid is a true Wii game. How long until we get good games?
As for consoles sales, the 360 is still doing pretty well. And look at the 360 GTA IV sales compared with PS3 - 360 has almost DOUBLE the sales. The PS3 only has 1 game in that top top list.
Xbox still has the best game library and best online experience.
