Alan Wake Update
I can’t say enough about my anticipation for Alan Wake despite not having much of anything new on it since X06. (yes the one from 2006) It’s set to debut exclusively at some point on the Xbox 360 and PC. I contacted Remedy Entertainment to try to dig up something new on the title. The word I received was that the game was still kicking strong.

“Right now we are fully focused on development and not ready to talk more about Alan Wake. We’re doing well and the game is looking awesome, but it is time to labor away and to keep our nose to the grind. The game has a lot of potential and it deserves to be crafted into all it can be. We are driven by our own quality standard not a timeline. Would love to talk more when we pop our heads above the surface next time.” – Remedy Entertainment PR
I don’t have to dissect this for you do I? You should be well versed after reading my Truth Serum article on PR Speak a little while ago. It’s not a confirmation of the release that I had hoped for but hearing that the game is looking awesome and to know that they’re set on ”when it’s done, it’s done” shines some much needed light on Alan Wake. At the same time, however, one could also interpret this as an inevitable delay for Alan Wake.
Keep the faith Alan Wake fans! Let’s keep hope alive for a 2008 release. Before I go, let me leave you with the demo from X06 that still manages to impress me.

that looks phenomenal. What’s the different though between alone in the dark and Alan awake? Are they pretty much the same structure or am I wrong?

It’s good to know that the game is still being worked on. I really can’t wait to see what it turns out to be like. I think it has a lot of potential to be good.

@shifttab if i remember it correctly, alan wake is about a writer, his books/creations come to life and he is haunted by them.
also alan wake takes place in a whole city (well most of it) and alone in the dark more in a mansion and garden etc.

This is one of the very few games that I am waiting for this year. I am still not sure about the premise behind the game, but it looks very interesting and fun. This will be a must get for me.

How can they not be ready to talk about it? Seriously, I’ve never understood why some developers keep their games so secretive. I was originally pretty excited for this game when it was announced back in 2005. Lately though, my interest has been dropping due to the lack of information and exposure the game has had.

@Grip,
Set in the deceptively idyllic town of Bright Falls, Washington, “Alan Wake” places gamers in the role of the best-selling suspense author, Alan Wake. He escapes to this small town to recover from the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée. In Bright Falls Wake comes face to face with his darkest nightmares.
“Alan Wake” immerses players in an intense and expansive cinematic world that enables players to roam freely in hyper-realistic, dynamic and interactive environments. “Alan Wake” is mission-based with a deeply engaging and suspenseful storyline unveiling new twists and profound character revelations at every turn. Players will unravel the riveting plot through character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against terrifying enemies. In this nightmarish world, Alan Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the creatures of darkness — light itself.

I have faith in Remedy. Both of the Max Payne games were amazing. Some of my favorite games of all time.
