Xbox 360 tops 10 Million Console Sales in U.S.
“Last one to 10 million units eats a rotten egg!” It looks like there will be no rotten eggs for Microsoft as they proudly announced that the Xbox 360 has topped the 10 million units sold mark in the United States. It’s also worth mentioning that this brings the worldwide total to more than 19 million.
“History has shown us that the first company to reach ten million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry,” said Don Mattrick, senior Vice President of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft.
I never knew that the first to reach 10 million usually identified the console battle winner but I’ll take Don’s word for it. They also went on to say that they own the most platinum titles besting both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii when it comes to million unit sellers.
Congratulations Xbox 360! Now can I get a check for all the attention I’ve helped gather? (pretty please)

I got mine on Launch day, it was the first time I had EVER waited in line for a console. No regrets as of yet (even though I have been red-ringed more than most 4 times) the 360 garners all of our attention at my house, the PS3 on the other hand continues to stay on standby.

i’ve never stood in line for any game or console. they’ve always been available for me to just walk up and buy.

You didn’t have any trouble finding a 360 at launch? Our Wal-Mart only got 29 and 17 of those were Pro’s. Then the drought started…

i didn’t get one at launch. got a PS1 and Xbox at launch though.

I picked up my first Xbox 360 at launch and it failed me about 4 months ago with RROD. Ever since then I’ve been running strong with a healthy console! =)

Xbox > 10 million:
11/01 - 10/04 or so.
2 years, 11 months
360 > 10 million
11/05 - 05/08
2 years, 6 months
Not so good for a system (360) that has had a ton of people buying more than one due to the RRoD problem… Good way to pat yourself on the back there Microsoft… The Xbox was a much more sound system with way more competition, so to me this looks like the 360 isn’t doing so hot like Microsoft wants to brag about.

wii actually has sold 10.6 million consoles
